Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Medical Laboratory Assistant II - Full Time - Days.
In this role, the successful candidate Responsible for the training and scheduling of Medical Laboratory Assistant I .Responsible to assist technical staff with the day to day laboratory operations by performing daily maintenance, and providing clinical and clerical support. Responsible to maintain a clean and well-organized work area in the laboratory. Maintenance of daily lab worklists, distribution of slides, changing chemical solutions, and maintenance of inventory and supplies. Assist pathologists, house staff, management, and technical staff in multiple clerical tasks, stocking supplies and filing. Maintenance of records and instruments under supervision.
Job Responsibilities:
* Maintains a clean and organized work area in the laboratory.
* Monitors, cleans and decontaminates laboratory equipment, glassware, benchtops, and instruments.
* Ensures all supplies are organized and stocked for operations. Monitors inventory, unpacks, organizes and dates reagents and supplies. Stocks technical workstations daily.
* Loads and unloads, processors, stainers and cover slippers under supervision. Assists in changing reagents and routine maintenance under supervision.
* Performs clerical duties associated with laboratory operations. Under supervision assists with completing daily, weekly and monthly QC charts. Prepares statistics as directed.
* Maintains and files specimens, blocks and slides in a retrievable fashion. Prepares specimens for discard and transports specimens, blocks and slides as needed.
* Organizes and maintains laboratory chemical inventory including storage, distribution and disposal.
* Manages hazardous chemical waste for of hazardous waste and chemical inventory under supervision.
* Manages biological waste and storage for anatomic pathology specimens.
* Performs reconciliation of specimens and/or worklists. Filing and or pulling specimen blocks and slides as needed.
* Recognizes unsafe work conditions and hazards and takes corrective action.
* Assists pathologists, house staff, management, and technicians with requests/projects as directed.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a High School Degree with science courses (biology and/or chemistry). Good communication skills. Excellent computer skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Associates Degree with coursework in chemistry, biology or related science. 6+ months of Anatomic Pathology laboratory (gross room and/or histology laboratory) experience. Employee Certification for Hazardous Materials Training and Testing. 1-2 years In a laboratory environment.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $54,477.16 - $54,477.17 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
