ROLE SUMMARY
The People Operations Business Partner will work directly with assigned Area Directors and Restaurant Operators to deliver quality employee experience by supporting a People First culture in all aspects of operations. This role is responsible for managing day-to-day People functions relative to recruitment, performance management, employee relations, benefits support, policy compliance, Safety & Worker's Compensation, and HR admin for your assigned region. The essential duties are as follows:
KEY FOCUS AREAS
RECRUITMENT & ONBOARDING
- Manage full cycle recruitment process for all external restaurant leaders.
- Partner with operations forecast to hiring needs and support succession planning within their region to enable growth and mobility.
- Provide recruitment support and collaborate with leaders to develop hiring strategies for hourly teams.
- Coordinate restaurant hiring events, attend college career fairs, and develop other strategies to attract and source candidates.
- Partner with Operations to develop and execute recruitment plan for new restaurant openings.
- Ensure all onboarding paperwork is completed timely and submitted to Payroll.
- Facilitate onboarding and 30-60-90-day Check-Ins for new managers
TALENT MANAGEMENT & TOTAL REWARDS
- Partner with Area Directors to review and provide feedback on development plans to determine readiness for the promotion process with assigned regions.
- Provide development coaching, counsel and training to restaurant leadership and Area Directors to support ongoing performance expectations and accountability.
- Lead People Planning sessions to track development of emerging leaders and identify gaps in leadership teams.
- Provide support to Total Rewards Manager with promotions, annual salary increases cycles, and minimum wage increases as needed.
- Support benefit communications to operations
EMPLOYEE RELATIONS
- Ensure employees are treated fairly in the spirit of our People First culture.
- Conduct employee relation investigations, maintain investigation files, and collaborate with Director of Compliance & Employee Relations on high-risk cases.
- Provide employee relations coaching and training to restaurant leaders.
- Record and track employee relation issues and trends.
- Responsible for conducting exit and stay interviews and review any trends
- Unemployment management
COMPLIANCE & POLICY
- Inform and coach field operations on all employee-related policies and procedures.
- Conduct policy compliance audits.
- Deliver compliance and People Operations related training.
- FMLA, ADA, Short-term/Long-term Disability, and COVID response management and tracking.
WORKER'S COMPENSATION & SAFETY
- Support implementation and monitoring of safety programs consistent with OSHA and other federal, state, and local regulations.
- Promote health and safety by ensuring compliance with safety standards, maintaining regulatory records, conducting regular audits, and addressing issues as they are identified.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist people team with projects and engagement efforts as needed.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent job experience is required.
- Must have 3-5 years' solid knowledge and implementation of recruitment strategies and techniques for the entire full life cycle of recruitment
- 2-3 years' experience multi-unit hospitality or retail environment
- Knowledge of HR/labor laws, proven ability to handle confidential information and familiar with national and local legislation with experience in employee relations and HR compliance
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, good interpersonal skills, coaching and counseling skills
- Bilingual preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills: ability to interact and build relationships with all levels of internal and external stakeholders
- Proficiency working with Microsoft Word, Excel, email, and internet
- Flexible, curious, and down to earth personality with a true passion for the business of people.
- Must have a strong understanding of and be able to apply key HR expertise areas to ensure effective people operations.
- Must take accountability for job responsibilities and complete tasks accurately and completely.
