    Nanny for Teen with Special Needs, Ithaca, NY

    A loving family is seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and fun-loving nanny/companion for their intelligent and polite 15-year-old daughter, who has autism.  She is non-verbal and uses a letterboard to communicate, thriving with engaging, active companionship.

    This long-term position is perfect for someone who is patient, energetic, and excited to be involved in her daily activities, such as tennis, Pilates, and outings.  The ideal candidate is social, adventurous, and eager to relive their teen years by creating fun, meaningful experiences and lasting memories.  They should enjoy engaging in conversations using her communication board, planning outings, and fostering a supportive and stimulating environment.

    Start date: April 2025 (flexible for the right candidate)

    Schedule:

    • Monday – Friday (Guaranteed 30 hours per week)
      • Morning: 7:45 AM – 8:45 AM (assist with morning routine and school bus drop-off)
      • Afternoon: 4:30 PM – 8:00/9:00 PM (school pick-up, activities, and evening care)
      • Occasional late evenings on Fridays
    • Summer hours: 

              Looking for someone who can be flexible!

    • M-F 7:45 AM - 3:00 PM & occasional late evenings on Fridays

      Compensation & Benefits:

      • $30-$35 per hour, based on experience
      • 3-weeks vacation
      • Federal holidays off (paid)
      • 2-4 sick days

      Responsibilities:

      • Assist with morning routine (getting dressed, breakfast, and bus drop-off)
      • Be present in the afternoons when she returns from school
      • Provide engaging, fun, and spontaneous activities
      • Drive her to Pilates and yoga classes
      • Support communication using her board
      • Ensure a safe and structured environment while fostering independence
      • Light-housekeeping & cooking

      Qualifications:

      • Prior experience working with autistic individuals or special needs caregiving
      • A patient, fun-loving, and creative personality
      • A valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and reliable vehicle
      • Comfortable working independently while the parent works from home (separate office space)
      • Provide 3-5 professional references
      • Must have US work Authorization
