    Job Description

    Nauticus Robotics is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern interested in furthering their education in an extremely hands on environment. Here you will learn what it really means to be an engineer through exposure and participation in all aspects of the engineering process including brainstorming, prototyping, design, fabrication, assembly, and testing. The limits to your assignments will be based on your skills, ambition, and creativity alone.

    FOR CONSIDERATION

    • This is a full-time internship. You must be available for at least 40.00 hours a week.
    • This is an on-site position. You must be available to commute or relocate during normal business hours for this role.

    **Please note this position will start in July or August 2024 and conclude in December 2024.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee will also be frequently required to stand.

    The employee must frequently lift, push, or pull equipment at a minimum of 50 pounds unassisted. Ability to work on small vessels. Ability to work through sea sickness when experienced or required. Must be able to climb ladders, maneuver in tight spaces, and stand for extended periods

    WORK ENVIRONMENT

    This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

    This role may require travel to field sites. Conditions may include exposure to heat, loud environments, small vessel maritime conditions, and 12 hour shifts.

    The performance of this position may occasionally require exposure to the manufacturing areas, which may require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields and mandatory hearing protection.

    Qualifications

    Required

    • A junior or senior student pursing a Mechanical Engineering degree
    • CAD experience
    • Experience using basic shop tools (hammers, drills, saws, mechanics tools, etc.)
    • You should have the ability to take something apart, put it back together, and have a basic understanding of how and why it works.
    • Attention to detail

    Preferred

    • Solidworks
    • Familiarity with subsea vehicles or marine engineering

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly to remain in a stationary position. The employee will be required to operate a computer and will consistently use other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer. The person in this position needs to move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. as necessary.

    • The employee must possess the ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand.

    • The employee will frequently move, transport, position, install, and or remove equipment of at a minimum of 50 pounds for various needs.

    • The employee must possess the ability to observe details at close range.

    • The employee must be able to ascend/descend a ladders and maneuver in tight spaces.
