NELSON POPE VOORHIS is an environmental planning firm with offices in Melville, NY and in the lower Hudson Valley providing a wide range of professional services. NPV continually seeks talented, enthusiastic individuals to join our growing team of planners, economists, ecologists, hydrologists, certified environmental professionals, grants specialists and GIS specialists. NPV is seeking experienced, self-motivated and energetic PLANNERS to support our work with numerous municipal and private clients on Long Island and in the Hudson Valley.

Responsibilities

• Complete planning/zoning studies and prepare document graphics.
• Review development applications (site and subdivision plans, special use permits), SEQRA compliance, report preparation, and for senior candidates, attend evening board meetings as staff planner for municipal clients within our region.
• SEQRA document preparation, including EISs, for public and private clients.

Skill Requirements

• Advanced knowledge and experience in the principles, practices & techniques of environmental and land use planning, and a working knowledge of New York State land use and environmental regulations. Candidate may have proficiency in related field including urban design, ecology, hydrology, geology, geography or similar field.
• Excellent writing and public speaking skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines and budgets.
• Familiarity with ESRI GIS.
• AICP Certification is preferred.
