    Job Purpose

    As a critical member of the technology and cybersecurity teams for LegalEASE, the Network Engineer will design, implement, and maintain secure, scalable network infrastructures while leveraging advanced Linux system security expertise. This role requires a deep understanding of both network architecture and Linux systems, ensuring optimal performance, robust security, and seamless connectivity across the organization. The successful candidate will proactively identify and mitigate risks, resolve vulnerabilities, and collaborate across teams to deploy innovative solutions that align with business objectives.

    Essential Functions

    Network Design, Implementation, and Security:

    Design, implement, and maintain secure, high-performance network infrastructures that align with organizational goals.

    Configure and manage routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points (Cisco, Juniper, or equivalent).

    Implement and monitor network security measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDPS), and VPNs.

    Linux System Security and Hardening:

    Harden Linux systems by applying security configurations and maintaining compliance with security policies.

    Monitor and manage host-based agents, perform vulnerability scans (e.g., Nessus, Rapid 7), and remediate identified issues.

    Collect and analyze logs from Linux systems to detect anomalies and suspicious activities.

    Vulnerability Management and Incident Response:

    Conduct internal and external vulnerability scans on servers and databases.

    Investigate, prioritize, and resolve vulnerabilities while documenting remediation efforts.

    Provide rapid response to security incidents, including containment, investigation, and resolution.

    Performance Optimization and Troubleshooting:

    Monitor and optimize network and system performance to ensure efficiency and reliability.

    Diagnose and resolve complex network and Linux system issues, collaborating with IT and cybersecurity teams.

    Documentation and Collaboration:

    Develop and maintain detailed documentation for network configurations, processes, Linux security procedures, and incident reports.

    Work with cross-functional teams to implement security measures and align technology strategies.

    Required Education and Experience

    Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Security, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

    3+ years of experience in network design, implementation, and Linux system security in enterprise environments.

    Proven expertise in configuring and managing Linux systems, routers, switches, and firewalls.

    Hands-on experience with intrusion detection/prevention systems (e.g., Snort) and vulnerability scanners (e.g., Nessus, Rapid 7).

    Strong knowledge of Linux operating systems, including system hardening and security configurations.

    Proficiency in network protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs) and scripting (e.g., Bash, Python).

    Experience with tools for monitoring and log analysis (e.g., Wireshark, SolarWinds).

    Familiarity with cloud networking (AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid environments.

    Preferred Education and Experience

    Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CompTIA Network+, or equivalent.

    Experience with cloud networking (AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid environments.

    Knowledge of automation and scripting for network tasks (Python, PowerShell, or Ansible).

    Familiarity with compliance and regulatory standards, such as SOC 2, HIPAA, or PCI-DSS.

    Knowledge of Microsoft Administration, including AD, Entra ID, and Intune.

    Work Environment

    This job operates in a professional office environment. Flex-schedule opportunities are available for this role. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

    Physical Demands

    Ability to work in an office environment, sitting at a desk or workstation for extended periods of time.

    Use of a computer, keyboard, and other standard office equipment.

    Occasional lifting of materials or objects up to [weight limit, e.g., 25 pounds] may be required.

    Mobility within the office for meetings, interactions, and accessing office facilities.

    Ability to communicate verbally and in writing, including via phone and electronic means.

    Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

    This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work will be based around the business need and be determined by your divisional leadership. Typical management roles require 45-50 working hours per week. Occasional on-call nights and weekends may be necessary.
