    About the Role:

    Aquila is seeking a Network Systems Administrator to join our team in supporting one of the country’s premier defense research organizations. In this role, you will need to have computer administration, network administration, hardware, software development, testing, automation, and orchestration skills, and the ability to adapt to the needs of a growing and evolving team. You’ll need to be flexible, motivated, and able to learn new technologies to meet requirements quickly.

    There are a few requirements for the position:

    • Must be a U.S Citizen - Authorized to Work in the US - Must be able to obtain a Active Clearance (Green Cards / Visas do not qualify)
    • Willingness to undergo a comprehensive background investigation and maintain a personal security clearance. (Aquila would sponsor you for the security clearance.)
    • Must be within commutable distance of Lexington, Massachusetts.

    What You’ll Do:

    The Network Systems Administrator is responsible for provisioning and maintaining on-premises high-availability server and network infrastructure. This includes designing and implementing server and network configurations, troubleshooting performance issues, monitoring server and network, and configuring security systems. Responsibilities also include ensuring that computer hardware and network infrastructure are effectively maintained. The position is involved in the procurement and provisioning of new hardware, the rollout of new software and software patches, maintaining all data, files, and logs stored on the system, including backup plans and procedures, maintaining the standards for server installations and applications, monitoring the performance of the servers and network as well as checking for security breaches and poor data management practices.

    What You’ll Bring:

    • 4 years of Network Experience (e.g., routing, switching, and TCP/IP protocol)
    • 4 years of Networking experience (routers/switches/firewalls/servers)
    • 4 year of Work with a Cross-Functional Team
    • 4 years of Scripting Experience: Python, Ansible, TCL, or Bash
    • Strong Verbal and Written Communication
    • 4 years of Configuring and Maintaining a Number of Linux Systems Utilizing Scripting Languages and Automation Tools
    • 4 years of Diagnosing and Troubleshooting Issues
    • 4 years of Strong Backup Experience and Proven Ability to Protect Mission Critical Data
    • 4 years of System Administration
    • 4 years of Ubuntu Systems Administration experience
    • 4 years of Virtualization Technologies to include VM management, Snapshots, SANs, and iSCSI Storage Systems
    • 4 years of Diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and networking problems

    Working knowledge of the Following:

    • Overall Systems Administration skills
    • Networking Experience with routers/switches/firewalls/servers/TCP/IP)
    • Scripting Experience with languages such as Python, Ansible, or Bash
    • Linux and Ubuntu systems experience; ability to configure and maintain Linux Systems, Diagnose and Troubleshoot Issues
    • Backup/Recovery experience
    • Virtualization experience
    • Candidates should be familiar with DevOps/DevSecOps methodologies for systems management.

    • Distributed storage technologies (Ceph, GlusterFS)
    • Infrastructure/Container Provisioning/Orchestration Systems (Ansible, Kubernetes, Docker/containers/Podman)
    • Infrastructure as code (IaC) technologies (Terraform)
    • Automated hardware provisioning tools (Digital Rebar, PXE boot)
    • Linux virtualization technologies
    • Physical, virtual, and overlay (container) network topologies
    • Troubleshooting complex platform issues traversing multiple layers (network, system, cluster, and application orchestration)
