    Job Description

    We are looking for a results-driven Technical Theatre Network Coach to join our community.

    In this role, you will:

    • Build a classroom culture in which scholars develop a love of technical theater;

    • Collaborate with Theater Teachers across the network to build world-class theater programs with high production values and rigorous technical theatre curriculums;

    • Offer training and support in the technical arts to Theatre Teachers;

    • Engage students with a variety of technical theatre skills including, but not limited to carpentry, scenic painting, rigging, prop making, light programming, sound mixing, and maintenance of equipment;

    • Design and execute professional-quality sets with lighting and sound elements to match.

    • Have confidence and presence -- You enjoy taking the lead and inspiring others with your passion and commitment;

    • Enjoy collaborating with others (i.e., playing on an athletics team, or in a band or orchestra);

    • Have leadership experience (i.e. technical director for a theatrical institute or company);

    • Pay strong attention to detail, and have experience juggling multiple responsibilities and planning around competing priorities;

    • Have experience working with a group of children;

    • Embody the character traits we value in our ETHOS - Excellence, Teamwork, Humor, Ownership, and making sure our Scholars are top of mind;

    • A 2-year or 4-year degree is a plus, but it is not mandatory;

    • Have a valid driver’s license.

    Scheduling

    • Mondays, Wednesdays, & Fridays

      • 9:00am - 5:00pm Flex Days to execute one of the following tasks:

        • Travel to school (X) and lead 2-4 technical theatre based lessons for scholars.

        • Travel to school (X) and collaborate with teachers to design sets, lights, and/or sound.

        • Travel to school (X) and assist in running technical elements during their rehearsal and/or performance.

      • OR

        • Build sets and rehearsal materials for various schools at the workshop.

        • Assist in running professional development sessions and provide feedback for theatre teachers on production value and curriculum.

        • Assist in advising on technical theatre needs for network theatrical events and aid in the procurement and running of technical theatre equipment.

    • Tuesdays & Thursdays

      • 9:00am - 1:00pm Travel to School (X) and execute one of the following tasks:

        • Lead 2-3 technical theatre based lessons for scholars.

        • Collaborate with teachers to design sets, lights, and/or sound.

        • Assist in running technical elements during their rehearsal and/or performance.

        • Assist in running professional development sessions and provide feedback for theatre teachers on production value and curriculum.

      • 1:00pm - 5:00pm Travel to School (X) and execute one of the following tasks:

        • Lead 2-3 technical theatre based lessons for scholars.

        • Collaborate with teachers to design sets, lights, and/or sound.

        • Assist in running technical elements during their rehearsal and/or performance.

        • Assist in running professional development sessions and provide feedback for theatre teachers on production value and curriculum.

    Evaluation

    The Network Technical Theatre Coach will be evaluated twice a year, once mid-year and once at the end of the year using a comprehensive rubric . The Technical Theatre Coach will also be expected to write thorough self evaluations a minimum of twice per year and provide weekly Friday updates to the Program Manager of Theatre.

    Compensation

    $65,000.00
