North Star Speech and Language Pathology Center is seeking a passionate, nerdy, and neurodiversity affirming SLP!
About the Role:
This is a part- or full-time position starting immediately.
Hours are flexible; we will build your schedule to meet your needs with the hours you want!
In-home appointments are offered throughout San Diego and the drive radius will be flexible depending on where you live. Our clinic is located in Point Loma.
Pay is negotiable and will be commensurate with experience.
The ideal candidate:
Has experience with parent coaching or willingness to learn to use parent coaching in all speech-language therapy sessions
Has pediatric experience, ideally including experience with autism and AAC evaluation and treatment
Is knowledgeable about the neurodiversity framework or has willingness to learn about neurodiversity and depathologizing autism
Enjoys reading, discussing, and applying research to clinical practice
Is open to giving and receiving feedback and seeks to continuously improve clinical skills through mentorship
Has excellent emotional intelligence, independence, and self-motivation
Is flexible and wants the variability of working in different settings including early intervention, private practice, and telehealth
Is open to working with developmentally disabled individuals of all ages

About North Star: We provide in-home, in-clinic, and online speech-language therapy utilizing parent coaching. North Star’s mission is to provide speech-language therapy services through a whole-person, whole-family approach in a safe and supportive community. North Star provides neurodiversity-affirming therapy; our goal is to improve the field of speech-language pathology and the quality of therapy our clients receive. The clientele is primarily early intervention (birth to 3 years old), autistic children, and young adults, and children with speech sound disorders and childhood apraxia of speech. This position would also require augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) evaluation and therapy, with training and mentorship provided as needed.
Minimum qualifications:
CA SLP license or ability to apply for CA SLP license, RPEs will be considered. CCC not required.
Ability to drive to clients’ homes for in-home appointments in your own vehicle.
Fully vaccinated and boosted against COVID-19 unless you have a verified medical reason that prevents you from getting vaccinated.
