    Position Overview:

    We are seeking a highly skilled and knowledgeable Tax Attorney to join our clients legal team. The successful candidate will represent clients in court cases regarding tax-related legal disputes, negotiate tax-related compromises with the IRS, and provide guidance on structuring the purchase and sale of businesses. This role requires a deep understanding of tax law, exceptional negotiation skills, and the ability to monitor legislative developments to advise clients on the potential impact on their business and personal finances.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Court Representation:

      • Represent clients in court for tax-related legal disputes.
      • Litigate tax disputes in court, with the ability to handle proceedings over the phone when necessary.
    • Negotiation:

      • Negotiate tax-related compromises with the IRS on behalf of clients.
      • Structure and negotiate the documentation of business entities.
    • Business Structuring:

      • Provide guidance on structuring the purchase and sale of businesses by examining sellers' debts, liabilities, finances, and assets.
    • Legislative Monitoring and Advising:

      • Monitor legislative developments and advise clients on the potential impact of pending legislation on their business and personal finances.
    • Legal Research:

      • Conduct thorough legal research using computer databases.
      • Stay current with extensive reading on tax law changes.
    • Documentation:

      • Write and file motions and court briefs.

    Qualifications:

    • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
    • Admission to the state bar and in good standing.
    • Strong background in tax law with proven experience in tax litigation and negotiation.
    • Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills.
    • Ability to handle multiple clients and cases simultaneously.
    • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Proficiency in using legal research databases and technology.

    Preferred Skills:

    • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or a degree in accounting is a plus.
    • Experience in structuring and negotiating business transactions.
    • Familiarity with the latest tax legislation and regulations.
    • LLM in Taxation
