The Nicknam Provider Development Program Presented by Southern Nevada Occupational Health Center & Southern Nevada Family Medicine
Welcome to the Nicknam Provider Development Program, a special opportunity for recent graduates of the Physician Assistant (PA) and Nurse Practitioner (NP) programs. This initiative, led by Dr. Nicknam, helps new providers transition into the field with strong support and hands-on experience, preparing them for long-term success in healthcare.
Program Breakdown
Step 1: License Requirement
To participate in the program, an active PA or NP license is required. This ensures that you are fully credentialed and ready to begin your professional journey.
Step 2: DOT Certification
After joining the program, the first goal is to obtain your Department of Transportation (DOT) certification. This certification is essential for broadening your qualifications and working in occupational health.
Step 3: 1-2 Weeks of Unpaid Shadowing
For the first 1-2 weeks, you will engage in unpaid shadowing. This phase gives you the opportunity to observe clinic operations, interact with patients under supervision, and familiarize yourself with the workflows of Southern Nevada Occupational Health Center and Southern Nevada Family Medicine.
Shadowing: During this period, there is no training—just observation. You will be able to see how experienced providers work, the clinic's processes, and how care is delivered.
At the end of the shadowing phase, we will evaluate your fit with the team before moving forward.
Step 4: Contract Signing
Upon successful completion of the shadowing phase, you will sign a two-year contract with Southern Nevada Occupational Health Center and Southern Nevada Family Medicine, committing to your growth as a healthcare provider.
Step 5: 1-2 Months of Training & Skill Assessment
Once the contract is signed, the training phase begins. During the first 1-2 months, you will undergo paid training while Dr. Nicknam evaluates your skills and performance.
Training: This period involves direct hands-on learning with patients, as well as skill refinement under the guidance of experienced providers. You will apply the knowledge gained during your education and shadowing experience, working closely with our team to grow your competencies.
Skill Assessment: Dr. Nicknam will continuously assess your abilities and provide feedback to ensure you are on the path to becoming a highly capable provider.
