    Job Description

    NBC 7 San Diego is seeking a talented and experienced News Producer to join our dynamic team in San Diego, California. As a News Producer, you will play a crucial role in shaping our daily news coverage and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, engaging content to our viewers.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Responsible for overall production and content of newscasts on any platform
    • Write news scripts, promos, teases, headlines and topicals and edit with non-linear software
    • Assign stories to newscast story producers, specifying the angle, video location, etc.
    • Conceptualize set graphics and blocking with APC operators and anchors
    • Execute live shots and communicate with anchors during live newscasts
    • Respond to breaking news with accuracy and urgency
    • Stay well-informed of daily news events and knowledgeable of the San Diego news market
    • Contribute story ideas, participate in daily coverage decisions and editorial meetings
    • Understand NBC 7’s and Telemundo 20’s newscast mission and station priorities
    • Research and gather information on assigned stories
    • Write text articles, create and publish video clips and still photos for our website
    • Execute all publishing workflows for video, images and text including publishing to social media platforms
    • Manage video livestreams
    • Perform other related duties as assigned
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • A minimum of 2 years of experience as broadcast line producer
    • Bachelor’s degree in communication, journalism or related field
    • At least 1-year prior news editing experience
    • Ability to work on multiple tasks and stories simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
    • Ability to react to breaking news, updating the news as stories evolve and write intros and leads to video online content
    • Demonstrated knowledge of AP style writing and guidelines

    • Must be 18 years or older
    • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
    • Must have valid drivers license

    • Familiarity with local leaders
    • Knowledge and interest in current news events
    • Familiarity with multi-media platforms including website CMS (content management systems) and social media
    • Knowledge of laws of libel, slander and applicable FCC rules and regulations
    • Personal initiative and ability to work with minimum supervision
    • Team player who is flexible
    • Displays a positive work ethic and can work under tight deadlines
    • High degree of integrity and professionalism
    • Strong organizational skills
    • Bilingual (English/Spanish) both written and verbal preferred

    Required On-Site : This position is required to be performed full-time from an NBCUniversal-designated worksite.

    Salary range: $67,000-85,000
