    Job Description

    Account Executive

    Role Summary:

As an Account Executive, you’ll be selling food packaging in an industry that has largely seen little change or innovation. Nextera is challenging every facet of what it means to be a distributor in order to maintain and expand our competitive advantage not just for the immediate, but for the decades to come.

Our Account Executives will often be the first touchpoint a potential client relationship has with Nextera. This makes you a critical representative of our brand and contributor to our business.

You’ll collaborate closely with a regional sales director and be responsible for strategic outbound sales efforts through multiple channels (e.g. phone, email, social media, in-person) while simultaneously managing accounts.

All your responsibilities will require a thoughtful combination of intellectual intelligence (IQ) and emotional intelligence (EQ) to not just strategize and sell by any means necessary, but to authentically develop and invest in meaningful relationships with clients, vendors, and fellow Team Members alike. This way of doing business comes back to a core belief that who we are in business (and in life) matters as much as what we do.

In this role you’ll report to a regional sales director and become a part of a high-ownership Sales Team built up of people whose sales instincts, talents, and drive are only equaled by their warmth, kindness, and commitment to seeing the team win (not just themselves).

    On-site Requirement:

Due to the highly collaborative nature of this role and the relationship-driven culture Nextera is building, 100% on-site work at our headquarters in St. Paul, MN, is required.

    Your Responsibilities:

    • Conduct outbound sales efforts via multiple channels including phone, email, social media, and in-person
    • Develop, manage, and grow diverse client accounts of varying sizes
    • Monitor and maintain profit margin of accounts
    • Manage the sales cycle from beginning to end
    • Collaborate with your regional sales director on account planning, strategy, and execution
    • Coordinate with internal support teams to launch new food packaging programs for clients
    • Immerse yourself in product and industry knowledge and client background information
    • Stay up to date on the latest industry trends, developments, and innovations

    Your Qualifications:

    • 1-3 years of business development, sales experience, and/or account management experience
    • Instinctively self-motivated and driven
    • “High-Ownership Mentality” – You take the initiative, do what needs to be done, and take responsibility for your mistakes as well as your achievements
    • Strategic thinker with a hunger for innovation
    • Strong skills and enjoyment of relationship-building (with clients, vendors, and fellow Team Members)
    • Excellent communicator (both in-person and digitally)
    • Strong record of follow through, organizational skills, and attention to detail
    • Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite
    • Familiarity with Microsoft Business Central is a plus
    • Familiarity with HubSpot Sales Hub is a plus
    • Familiarity with the food packaging industry is a plus
    • Committed to building and contributing to a healthy work culture for yourself and for others
    • Able to work on-site full-time, full-time at Nextera Packaging’s Headquarters in St. Paul, MN

    Your Salary :

Base - $65,000-$100,000 based on experience.
    Commission - $250,000-$500,000.
    Relocation Fee - $5K-$10K

    Benefits:

    • Opportunities for career advancement
    • Health, Dental, Vision, Life, Disability Insurance
    • 401(k) with Annual Employer Contribution
    • PTO (including your birthday) and most national holidays
    • Warm, welcoming, and fun working environment
    • Genuine valuing of work/life balance (modeled at every level of the company, including C-Suite leadership)

    Company Description

    Who We Are:

Food is magnetic. From football games to family gatherings, food draws people in and has the profound ability to forge traditions, share culture, and spur connections. However, for food to have this impact, it must get to our shelves and tables.

At Nextera Packaging, we believe we get to play a small, yet influential role, in supporting food’s powerful connection through supplying food packaging. This role not only fuels our passion for food packaging, but founds Nextera’s very purpose for existing:

To connect food to people through beautiful, safe, and sustainable packaging.

For over 45 years, Nextera Packaging has lived and breathed food packaging and we’ve become a respected and leading name in the industry, specifically with food processors and packers.

However, we’re entering a new era for our company and have shifted our mentality away from the comfort and complacency decades of successful business can bring in favor of a startup-like hunger to not just embrace the future of food packaging but help shape it.

We’re looking to grow a team with people who share our hunger to shape the future of food packaging and are ready to live our purpose by helping processors and packers connect their food to people like you and me.

    Work Culture:

Unlike food packaging, we can’t manufacture a healthy company culture. However, we can say “this is the kind of company we want to be” and develop values and habits that support that. At Nextera, we want to be an inclusive company known for a Culture of Honor. From clients to vendors to team members, we want every person we have contact with to feel genuinely seen, valued, and respected.
To work towards this culture goal, we’ve committed to 4 Shared Values designed to be lived out and not simply housed on our website and in our employee handbook. They are:
•\tCare for People – When people are seen, respected, and appreciated, amazing things will happen.
•\tRisk for Better – Daring to innovate is not safe. It’s a risk for better. And we take that risk.
•\tLeave the Ego – We are humble with our attitudes, generous with our help and leave our ego at the door.
•\tSeek the Good – We seek out opportunities to do good—even when they’re inconvenient.
Part inspiration, part accountability, part habit builders, our values keep our heads up and looking for ways we can be difference makers in our relationships. When these values are lived out, we believe a Culture of Honor will follow naturally.
