McKean Defense is seeking an Electrical and/or Computer Engineer (2+ years experience) with a strong background in Object Oriented Programming primarily in Java, experience with LabVIEW, and familiarity with electronic hardware system design and troubleshooting. The main function of the candidate will be lifecycle support of new and existing test tools at Naval test facilities. The Lifecycle support of these simulators and test tools which includes, but is not limited to:
a) Participate in Requirements Development and Design Reviews of next generation Test Tools. b) Rapid development of prototype Test Tools to facilitate design decisions. c) Modification of existing simulator software and hardware to support new MCS software testing requirements. d) Design and development of embedded systems using NI cRIO. e) Hardware and software system troubleshooting on new and existing simulators and plant equipment. f) Develop test procedures to exercise requirements of current and future systems. g) Provide design support for integration of equipment in an industrial/shipboard environment.
Up to 25% travel may be required.
Required Skills
Prior experience with Object Oriented Programming in Java, C++, .NET, or C#. Prior experience using LABVIEW for rapid prototype development. Ability to troubleshoot software and hardware issues related to Embedded Systems. Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office suite of applications. Proficient in basic computer/laptop use including advanced operations. Basic knowledge of IP network troubleshooting tools such as Wireshark. Basic technical writing ability. Self-motivated and able to work in a team environment.
ADDITIONAL PREFERRED SKILLS, BUT NOT REQUIRED:
Experience with MATLAB and Simulink. Experience with database applications such as MS Access and SQLite. Software modeling experience. Experience with the following hardware platforms: a) Versa Module Eurocard (VME) b) Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) c) PCI Extensions for Instrumentation (PXI) d) Compact Reconfigurable Input Output (cRIO) e) Compact Data Acquisition (cDAQ)
Experience designing and deploying cRIO embedded systems. Experience programming with Ladder Logic. Experience with Kepware Server EX. Experience upgrading hardware platforms of Legacy Embedded Systems.
Required Experience
Bachelor of Science in Electrical and/or Computer Engineer is required
2-3 years of experience in electrical engineering with special emphasis on Object Oriented Programming and electronic system design and troubleshooting.
DoD Secret clearance required, or the ability to obtain one.
