  • Responsibilities

    Leading community health organization seeks a Chief Human Resources Officer to plan, direct, coordinate, and evaluate the work of the Human Resources Department and Human Resources staff. This is an onsite position and will be primarily based out of the Long Island City office.

    Responsibilities:

    • Directs development and implementation of agency wide personnel and supervisory policies
      and procedures
    • Directs Labor Relations in development and implementation of disciplinary policies (e.g., conduct grid) and oversees EEO functions for the agency
    • Assures that the director’s exercise of authority (e.g., hire, promotion, transfer, demotion, suspension, layoff, recall, discharge or discipline) over staff.
    • Develops and monitors office budget
    • Assures coordination with various department offices (e.g., Financial Affairs, General Counsel) and departmental committees regarding human resource administration and operational issues
    • Supervises staff in accordance with established procedures, evaluates employee performance at designated time frames.
    • Provides high level strategic planning and advises agency leadership regarding initiatives, process
      improvement and administration
    • Collaborates with the executive team on findings of research, suggests options for policy direction and makes recommendations which reflect input from multiple sources.
    • Create strategic training and organizational development plan to meet personal, professional, and organizational needs of the employees.
    • Oversee compensation programs to ensure regulatory compliance and competitive salary levels.
    • Evaluate procedures and technology solutions to improve human resources data management.
    • Recommend and maintain an organizational structure and staffing levels to accomplish the organization’s goals and objectives.
    • Establish and implement short- and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures.
    • Maintains a knowledge base relating to human resources management staying abreast of compliance issues, agency regulations, state and federal regulations and human resources trends.

     

    Qualifications:

    • Requires a Bachelor’s degree, in business administration, human resources management or equivalent field
    • A minimum of 8+ years of human resources generalist experience at a professional level, preferably within a social services or non-profit environment
    • A minimum of 5 years of experience directing and supervising staff
    • Strong background in employee relations
