    • Provides individual and couples therapy, intake assessment, risk assessment and crisis intervention, group therapy, consultation, referrals, case management administers scores and interprets standardized psychological tests designed to measure intellectual, achievement, personality and psycho-educational characteristics. Contribute to Clinical training. Counseling Psychologist is expected to put in sixty to sixty five percent (60%) of direct services hours per week.

    • Provides\Coordinates effective community outreach services including consultation services to students, parent, faculty and staff and outside professionals. Also, designs and conducts workshops directed towards the following topics for the student body: stress management, time management, and test anxiety, study skills, peer conflicts and. professionalism. Serves as a liaison to all academic and social support programs, and office of the Deans. Counseling Psychologist is expected to put in 15% services hours per week.

    • Prepares collaborative works and reports on student counseling progress with other professionals. Prepares and maintains students’ clinical/counseling progress record. Counseling Psychologist is expected to put in12%-15% services per week.

    • Assists the Director in coordinating campus responses to emergencies and disasters as well as ensuring compliance with all policy, accreditation, legal, ethical, and licensing requirements as well as. Assists the Director in the preparation of information for the program evaluation and other assigned duties. Contribute to the strategic planning of the Department. Counseling Psychologist is expected to put in 10% services per week.

     

     

     

     

    Required Skills

    • Ability to counsel multi-cultural, multi-gender and multi-aged individuals, couples/families and groups utilizing professional therapy orientations, techniques and strategies, and interviewing clients.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to prepare evaluative reports relevant to area of expertise.
    • Knowledge of medical and clinical issues related to individuals with learning, developmental, or emotional disabilities.
    • Interviewing and psychological/developmental evaluation skills.
    • Experience in providing training, outreach programs, and crisis intervention in a university setting.
    • Ability to interact with students, faculty, and/or staff in a team environment.
    • Ability to exercise sound judgment, multi-task and set priorities.
    • Knowledge of and experience with mental health models, accreditation standards, ethics, policies, and procedures within specialty area.
    • Good oral and written communication skills including demonstrated ability to make oral presentations and facilitate an open exchange of ideas.

    Required Experience

    • A Doctoral degree (Ph.D., Ed.D. or Psy.D.) in Clinical or Counseling psychology.
    • Licensed as a psychologist in the state of Tennessee. Health Service Provider (HSP) designation. Minimum three (3) years of experience in a college counseling/mental health center of comparable scale and complexity is required.
