    FULL-TIME, DAY SHIFT, 40 HOURS PER WEEK, MONDAY-FRIDAY, 7:00AM-3:30PM

     

    SUMMARY:

    Performs application system requirements analysis, preparation of functional specifications and technical specifications

     

    PURPOSE:

    The purpose of this document is to describe the general nature and level of work performed by personnel as classified; it is not intended to serve as an inclusive list of all responsibilities associated with this position.

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    1. Provides timely completion of service requests for computer system file definition, ensures all associated definitions are complete. Documents all tasks according to established procedures.
    2. Works with department managers and/or directors in establishing new programs utilizing the laboratory’s information systems.
    3. Installs, tests, and implements enhancements and/or upgrades to relevant information systems as required. Maintains appropriate documentation of testing in accordance with accrediting agencies’ requirements and internal procedures.
    4. Maintains functional knowledge of the systems to aide in providing quality customer service. Understands customer’s uses of the systems; acts as a resource to staff/customer in the use of the system.
    5. Performs daily system tasks to ensure relevant system integrity.
    6. Maintains accurate documentation of procedures utilized in the performance of the job, updating them as processes change.
    7. Participates in project planning to include the development of project plans, task scheduling, work assignments and progress reporting.
    8. Maintains a working knowledge of systems interfaced to the relevant information system for the purpose of understanding the impact on functionality any changes may have.
    9. Provides troubleshooting support, researching, analyzing and resolving situations in a timely fashion. Communicates and/or coordinates resolutions as implemented in accordance with internal policies and procedures.
    10. Effectively deals with multiple and changing priorities.
    11. Performs other duties as deemed appropriate.
    12. Provides on-call support.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education/Experience:

    Bachelor's degree (B. S.) from four-year college or university in Medical Technology, Information Science or related field of study; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Five years experience using and supporting the relevant information system.

     

    Language Ability:

    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

     

    Math Ability:

    Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

     

    Reasoning Ability:

    Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. 

     

    Communication Skills:

    Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.

     

    Computer Skills: 

    To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software; Accounting software; Inventory software; Payroll systems; Development software; Design software; Internet software; Human Resource systems; Order processing systems; Project Management software; Manufacturing software and Database software.
