    SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES:

    The Medical Receptionist will answer phones, greet patients, maintain appointment schedules, collect co-payments, counsel patients on past-due balances, and handle issues concerning patient flow within the imaging department. All required information such as contact, demographics, insurance and other information must be verified prior to referring patients for a MRI or CT scan.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    Greets patients and parents in polite, prompt, helpful manner and provides any necessary instructions and directions. Brings patients to the dressing room once the check in process is complete.

    Reviews all forms for accuracy and completion according to office policies prior to check-in and prior to check-out.

    Answers incoming calls from patients and either process the call or transfers calls to the appropriate medical staff. Completes other calls as directed.

    If directed, scans charts, demographic forms, HIPAA Acknowledgement forms, new patient paperwork etc.

    Applies knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing systems, filing and records management systems, transcription, forms design principles, and other office procedures and terminology.

    Performs data entry, recording, storing, or maintaining information in either written form or by computer.

    Establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, nurses and other staff.

    Assists imaging referral specialist as time and schedule permits.

    Changes and maintain confidential medical files and records using the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system as necessary.

    Resolve issues relating to scheduling appointments.

    Facilitates communication when acting as a liaison between the physicians, practitioners and staff to resolve appointment conflicts and errors.

    Exhibits the ability to manage time well, maintain a harmonious working relationship and an even temperament

    Completes all other responsibilities as assigned by management.

    Clock in and out every day and clocks in and out for lunch when appropriate.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    Medical Office experience preferred. Experience as a Medical Receptionist is preferred, experience with check-in/check-out process for MRI or CT is highly desired. Candidate must be a caring and compassionate person able to put patients at ease using excellent communication skills. Computer proficiency is required and software such as EMR, Word, Excel and other program are strongly preferred. Must be able to read and write legibly and follow written and verbal instructions.

    WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

    The specific work environment for this position is a multiple doctor's facility working in the imaging reception area. The Imaging Medical Receptionist is responsible for supporting both MRI and CT and complete all paperwork/procedures used. This position involves considerable sitting at a desk, sole responsibility for his or her working environment and it involves working independently within a larger office. Typically, all required responsibilities are completed in the MRI reception area although walking to other areas within the office can be necessary. The environment may be stressful at times because patients can become quite anxious when arriving at the office and the Receptionist must be able to keep them calm as part of their job.

    The position requires continual stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, repetitive motions and finger use. Pushing and pulling are occasionally required.
