  • Responsibilities

    Sidney Regional Medical Center is hiring for full-time Nurse Aides in our Acute Care department. Available shifts include day shift and night shift.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Provides direct patient care duties in the hospital under direction of nursing and medical staff.

      • o Answer call lights and assist with patient requests.
      • Baths patient, assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLS) and assist with ambulation.
      • Serve and collect food trays, pass water, and feed patients requiring help.
      • Change bed linens daily and as needed.
      • Take and record temperature, blood pressure, pulse and respiration rates, food and fluids intake and output, as directed. Applies compresses, ice bags, aquapads, and Ted hose (pneumatic hose).
      • Performs transferring, ambulation, or range of motion as directed in individual care plans.
      • Lifts, moves and transports patients, using proper body mechanics or lifting devices.
      • Assist with Peri-cares and post mortem cares as necessary.
      • Assist with setting up auxiliary equipment (i.e. oxygen, suction, Gomco, nebulizers, K-Pads, etc.) under the direction of RN or assigned LPN that does not require a license for performance.
      • Demonstrates personal accountability in the delivery of patient care in a competent, professional, and compassionate manner.
    • Performs and maintains documentation.

      • Observe and report changes in the patient's status to RN or LPN caring for patient or charge nurse.
      • Completes shift end check with a nurse prior to leaving duty.
      • Conducts and documents through the EMR a thorough account of each patient's status during scheduled shift.
    • Communicates effectively.

      • Communicates and collaborates effectively with other health team members regarding patient's condition, nursing plan of care.
      • Follows approved shift report format when communicating patient information.
      • Communicates and interacts effectively and tactfully with the patients, visitors, families, peers and supervisors.
      • Will report any suspected or known illegal activities.
    • Promotes and ensures patient safety in performance of all responsibilities.

      • Assist in maintaining a safe, neat and clean environment; reports environmental deficiencies to the house supervisor such as lighting and equipment.
      • Demonstrates proficient technical/clinical skills and operational knowledge of equipment on the floor.
      • Informs and involves RN or LPN regarding patient care issues in a timely and appropriate manner.
      • Utilizes proper body mechanics, transfer/lifting techniques and appropriate equipment to minimize fall risk to patient and injury to self.
    • Follows HIPAA regulations and ensures that the confidentiality of patient's medical, personal, financial records, employee records, and organizational records is maintained.

    • Complies with the state and federal regulatory requirements of the company Compliance

    • Presents self in a professional manner and enhances professional growth and development through participation in education programs, current literature, in-service meetings and workshops.

      • Seeks opportunities for continued growth and performance improvement.
      • Always maintains a professional appearance and manner.
      • Dependable and completes work in a timely manner.
      • Demonstrates an understanding and emphasis on quantity, quality, and knowledge of duties and tasks.
      • Regular attendance.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Education & Experience:

    • Education: High School diploma or GED is preferred.
    • Education: Previous healthcare experience is desirable.
    • Required licensure: Successfully complete Nursing Assistant class and maintain Registry requirements.
    • Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training.
