The Preoperative/PACU Registered Nurse (RN) has the responsibility of coordinating and providing direct care for pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric age groups in the preoperative and post anesthesia care clinical areas assigned. The RN must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
Job Duties:
The RN provides for procedural safety and efficient procedural progress for the patients of all ages. The RN utilizes his / her training and experience to perform a wide range of nursing functions. These include, but are not limited to: history taking and physical assessment, medication administration, intravenous therapy, and direct personal care of patients. The RN utilizes the Nursing process to prescribe, delegate, and coordinate the Nursing care for assigned patients. The RN also directs care provided by LPNs, CNAs, Nurse Techs, and OR Techs during scheduled shifts and will provide supervision when substituting for the Nurse in Charge when so delegated. Supervisory responsibilities include planning, organizing and evaluating quality of care rendered by surgical personnel. The RN must be able to demonstrate use of the Standards of Care, Nursing Diagnosis and Physician preferences in planning care for each patient.

- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

- Must be able to serve on committees as needed, special projects as assigned and other assigned duties as deemed necessary.
Education:
- Current RN licensure by the Georgia State Board of Nursing.
- Current AHA BLS certification recommended for health care providers.
- ACLS required (may be obtained within first 12 months of employment)
- PALS recommended
Training/Experience:
Preferred in assigned or similar area
