ABOUT THE ROLE:

PRT, Windsor is seeking a full-time Forest Seedling Nursery Manager to be based in Williston, South Carolina. Leading the local management team, you will have the opportunity to work with the most innovative conifer seedling producer in the industry with a focus on our people, customer satisfaction and continuous improvement ensuring our Strategy execution is successfully aligned with operational plans and performance. As an accountable leader and proactive Manager, you will oversee all aspects of greenhouse and outdoor seedling production. You will lead an experienced team that takes pride in being the ultimate best in producing exceptional results for our customers. Your focus will include financial management, personnel development and leadership, continuous improvement activities, customer focus, overall site safety, and promotion of PRT. The driving force of implementation and execution of PRT’s Strategy is rooted in the personal core values of stewardship and safe-guarding of the well-being for our People, Customers, Assets, Environment, and Capital.

Key Accountabilities of the Forest Seedling Nursery Manager:

• Ensure adherence to organizational health and safety programs through routine management, review, and follow-up procedures
• Develop and prioritize proposals for capital expenditures and projects
• Manage and supervise container seedling production
• Create production target plans
• Implement crop and work plans
• Identify and assess crop damage, losses and reliability issues
• Perform root-cause analysis with nursery personnel and develop solutions
• Keep neat and accurate records
• Manage labor force
• Identify training needs
• Mentor, coach, and train nursery personnel
• Ensure adherence to legal and regulatory requirements
• Correspond with customers
• Follow and enforce safe work practices
• Encourage innovation and continuous improvement
• Promote collaboration and teamwork at all levels
• Set targets (i.e., production, timelines) and evaluate achievement

LOCATION: Williston, South Carolina, PRT Windsor

The Windsor nursery is located 15 miles southeast of Aiken, SC and 35 miles from Augusta, GA. Aiken is a beautiful town with a population of about 40,000 with 175,000 in Aiken County. There is lots to do in Aiken. Aiken is known as a horse lover community with plenty horse farms with riding, hunter jumper riding and competitions, and lots of Polo. There are many parks with trails, tennis and pickle courts. There are also lots of eateries to choose from.

WORK STATUS: Full-time Salaried

*Weekdays and weekends as needed, especially during our busiest times of the year.

Qualifications

WHAT YOU BRING:

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in horticulture, agriculture, or forestry (or equivalent experience)
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in nursery operations, with a proven track record of leadership and team management.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to make sound judgments under pressure.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite and a willingness to learn our proprietary inventory management and shipping system.
• A genuine passion for growing things and a deep understanding that this is a way of life, not a 9-to-5 job.
