Job Description

YOU WILL:

• This position encompasses all facets of forming engineering including; Exploring new technology, develop new techniques, understand consistency, innovate flexibility and be part of eliminating injuries on a glass-forming machine.
• Be closely connected with the MAGMA forming squad, brainstorm daily.
• Support R&D mechanical engineers from a forming perspective when developing prototypes.
• Be open to change, always exploring different ways and processes to form glass containers
• Lead the day to day operations of prototype machines throughout the trial periods. Document learnings at the same time understanding from a hands on perspective.
• Manage glass conditioning from a forehearth perspective, understand trends and demand consistency from the furnace operations. 
• Control quality from the machine, understand the data and offer resolutions.
• Develop and lead a network for all the regions for experience and technical forming support. 
• Oversee and support the hands on/operational forming support when needed .
• Manage all forming training material for any new development going to market. 
• Work with plant and operational team on developing skills before machine install.

Qualifications

THE FORMING PROCESS SPECIALIST SHOULD HAVE:

• 5+ years in forming, glass manufacturing and bottle making, technical background in glass manufacturing and plant processes is essential
• Strong decision making and judgment skills
• Excellent understanding of complete forming process
• Background or strong knowledge quality control – what causes defects and ability to correct.
• Team Orientated Individual– must have excellent people skills
• Strong communication skills 
• Flexibility to interact with all levels within plant and R&D teams
