  • Responsibilities

    Under the direction of the Medical Practice Manager, the Surgery Scheduler performs surgery scheduling and various routine clerical tasks. The Surgery Scheduler oversees insurance inquiries; performs pre-admission reviews and explains deductible and payments if necessary; schedules surgery time with hospital and schedules physical before surgery date. Works closely with Office Manager and other members of the office to trouble-shoot and resolve problems, maintains positive relationships with patients, family members and other visitors, and fellow employees.

    Required Skills

    • Knowledge of medical/surgical terminology and procedures
    • Knowledge of ICD-10 CM and CPT coding systems.
    • Strong knowledge of computers and computerized practice management systems and other computerized systems (Microsoft office programs and electronic health records systems).
    • Demonstrates good telephone management skills.
    • Excellent organizational skills, strong interpersonal skills
    • Must be able to manage multiple tasks with interruption and able to multi-task
    • Critical thinking, the ability to identify problems, good solving skills to resolve them in a timely manner
    • Use of customer service principles and practices
    • Good English communication skills and ability to communicate effectively
    • Excellent grammar, punctuation, proofreading, editing and composition skills
    • Demonstrates effective communication skills, bilingual helpful.

    Required Experience

    Required:

    • Must have knowledge of insurance, HMO procedures & medical terminology
    • Experience with ICD-10 CM & CPT coding systems
    • Ability to maintain composure & balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

    Preferred:

    • High school diploma or GED
    • 2 years of front office experience
    • Experience in surgery scheduling process
  • Qualifications
