Job Summary
Schedules and processes work for OSP Technicians, handles special projects inside OSP Engineering department and maintains the 911 database along with verifying that all structures in mapping are correct.
Essential Job Functions
- Provides outside plant graphics and information by analyzing outside plant engineering sketches, specifications and supporting documents; creating and updating drawings and data of projects; maintaining a layout of the graphics system, components and parts; ensuring accuracy, legibility, uniformity and quality standards of graphics and database system; creating, modifying and deleting outside plant related telecommunication data in the GIS database.
- Distributes hard copies of map information utilizing the outside plant geographical information system or similar systems; operating plotters and engineering copiers to generate paper copies; furnishing paper copies to outside plant technicians, construction, inspectors and supervisory personnel.
- Coordinates the distribution of service orders and trouble tickets that require drops by determining which service orders and trouble tickets require drops; entering information into the order for the engineers; passing order information to Plant Operations for pre-assignment; calling in locates; updating drop tracking software; assigning construction crews to drops depending on area and workload.
- Resolves discrepancies in outside plant records by collecting, investigating and analyzing information, conferring with outside plant engineers, technicians, plant and supervisory personnel.
- Contributes to outside plant engineering department effectiveness by identifying issues to be addressed; providing information and commentary relevant to operations; recommending options and courses of action.
- Provides outside plant engineering information by answering questions and requests.
- Prepares, verifies, and distributes continuing property records (CPR) e-reports by running CPR programs on the GIS system; creating hard copies of reports, analyzing, verifying and reviewing information in conjunction with plant technicians, outside plant engineers and accountants; meeting deadlines; distributing reports to personnel and departments.
- Assist in the preparation of cable cutovers and throws by checking outside plant facilities for available fibers in order to provide a cutover of subscribers into new cable facilities.
- Assists in the assignment of fibers by participating in assignment efforts during cable cutovers, when outside plant problems or record discrepancies occur or an assigner needs assistance locating facilities.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and user conferences; establishing personal networks, and reading technical publications.
- Contributes to outside plant engineering effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Communicates with state and county 911 agencies to validate, correct and update all Zirrus 911 information, in mapping software, MSAG and plant records

Education and Experience
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required
- Bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience preferred
- Experience in Project Management
