Job Summary

Collaborative ABA Services, LLC is seeking a Contractual/Part-time Occupational Therapy Assistant to cover a maternity leave. The Occupational Therapy Assistant works as a member of the interdisciplinary team in the clinic setting. Occupational Therapy Assistants are responsible for providing 1:1 and group therapy services to patients and their families under the guidance and supervision of the Registered Occupational Therapist. The Occupational Therapy Assistant will assist in conducting routine assessments to guide treatment planning and monitor client progress. The Occupational Therapy Assistant will also assist in providing training to further educate other family members and professionals to support the patient’s generalization of skills outside of therapy sessions.

Job Duties

Provide comprehensive, ethical, and compassionate therapeutic services to children with developmental disabilities under the guidance and supervision of Registered Occupational Therapist.

Work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team in a supportive team-working environment for optimal client outcomes while including measurable improvement criteria.

Identify need for and make referral to other disciplines to address the comprehensive needs of the patient when appropriate.

Write and maintain confidential client case notes and reports, as well as information for clients, and other professionals.

Assist with the screening and evaluation of clients and provide evaluation results to stakeholders.

Assist in developing initial and ongoing treatment plans of care including data collection methods, therapeutic interventions, and discharge plan.

Revise treatment plans, as needed, throughout the treatment process.

Educates patients/families in home exercise programs and/or functional activities to maximize independent functional activity

Determines when a client has met all treatment goals and recommends discharge if appropriate under the guidance and supervision of Registered Occupational Therapist.

Maintaining accurate records of treatment and billing after each session.

Assists in the supervision of OT students.

Assists in reviewing the quality and appropriateness of the total services delivered per client to make appropriate recommendations to funding sources.

Maintains confidentiality of client, including records and services provided according to HIPPA regulations.

Job Qualifications

Education: Graduate of an accredited program of Occupational Therapy Assistant with current Licensure as an Occupational Therapy Assistant issued by the Connecticut State Department of Public Health

Registration as an Occupational Therapy Assistant with the National Board is preferred. Must have a current Connecticut Occupational Therapy Assistant License.

Experience: Previous experience working with children/adolescents with special needs including Autism as a Occupational Therapy Assistant (1-2 years preferred).

Must have reliable transportation and insurance.

Knowledge of the principles and practices of occupational therapy and the relationship to behavior including the ability to evaluate, develop interventions, and determine outcomes related to occupations, contexts, performance patterns, performance skills, and client factors

Physical Demands

Must be able to perform a variety of postures and motor movements which may include the ability to stoop, stand, reach, lift , pull, walk, push, grasp, hear, talk,see and use repetitive motions.

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds in working with children with special needs and behavior difficulties.

Must be able to sit on the floor or stand for extended periods of time.

Must have visual acuity to read and comprehend written or typed communication
