Job Overview:
Join our Full-Time Manager in Training (MIT) Program at Lawn Doctor and grow into a leadership role by January! This unique opportunity allows you to develop your skills in customer service, operations, and management, while maintaining guaranteed winter work to keep your income steady during the off-season.
We are a small, local, family-owned business looking for someone who is eager to learn, grow, and contribute to our team. The ideal candidate will embody the following qualities:
What We’re Looking For:
Driven: We want someone who takes initiative and doesn’t need to be hand-held through every task. You should also be able to drive, as we operate a fleet of vehicles—being able to drive in a straight line is a must!
Hardworking: We aren’t asking for marathon workdays, but we do need someone willing to go the extra mile to ensure our customers are happy.
Problem Solver: Before asking why something doesn’t work, make sure the basics are covered (like checking if the computer is plugged in). Our customers often need resolutions to problems, so a little common sense will go a long way.
Adaptable Team Player: We need someone who understands the importance of wearing many hats to support the team and is ready to step in where needed, just as the team will support you.
Thick-Skinned: Our workplace has a fun, sarcastic, and sometimes colorful culture. We hit our goals while keeping things light and enjoyable. If that sounds like your kind of environment, you’ll fit right in.
Forgiving: Mistakes happen, and they often stem from miscommunication. We need someone who can learn from those mistakes and keep a positive attitude while moving forward.
Positive Attitude: No room for negativity or tantrums here. We focus on growth—for our business, our team, and our customers—and that can only happen in a healthy, positive environment.
Great Communicator: You’ll be on the phone a lot, interacting with customers who value our personal, small-business feel. Sometimes it’s helping a customer make a payment, and other times it’s patiently solving the same issue for the fourth time that day. You’ll need to be as polite the last time as you were the first.
Lawn Care Experience: A minimum of one year of lawn care experience is preferred.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Lawn Doctor (October-January):
You will spend these months learning Lawn Doctor’s software, processes, and procedures. You’ll be trained on customer service, communication, operational adjustments, and assisting field technicians. This period will set the foundation for your full-time transition as an Office Manager starting in January.
Winter Work (November-December)(Primarily Afternoon/Evening and Weekends during Winter Work) :
During the winter, your hours will shift to accommodate retail needs while continuing your training. This work will keep your income steady and give you the chance to gain experience in a different setting.
Office Manager Role Transition (January Onwards):
In January, you’ll step into the full-time Office Manager role at Lawn Doctor, with responsibilities that include:
Manage inbound communication (phone calls, voicemails, emails, texts, and mail).
Ensure route adjustments are communicated promptly to prevent service errors.
Complete end-of-day correspondence, complaints, and queries.
Assist field technicians with calls and routing adjustments.
Follow up on notes from the previous day’s routes.
Address customer complaints with a focus on first-contact resolution.
Monitor customer behavior trends and adjust services/communication as needed.
Ensure AR procedures are completed daily.
Handle overdue payments through emails, texts, and statements.
Complete daily, weekly, and monthly reporting (KPIs, complaint analysis, etc.).
Lead and participate in weekly meetings (Customer Retention, Sales, Office Recap).
What We Offer:
A Close-Knit Team: We operate like a family—sometimes we bicker, but at the end of the day, we support each other 100%.
Work-Life Balance: Your well-being and family come first. We offer flexibility when needed. We also believe in enjoying our work, so expect things like company lunches, snacks, and team-building events.
Bonuses & Rewards: We offer several bonus opportunities, including commissions, monetary bonuses, gift cards, cookouts, and team outings.
Personal Growth: Your personal development is our priority. If you ever feel unfulfilled or overwhelmed, we’re here to support you and help you grow.
Monetary Compensation: Of course! Your hard work will be compensated fairly.
Supportive Leadership: We pride ourselves on having a leadership team that is here for you and will always have your back.
