Job Description
We are looking for a Junior Accountant to join our team! This position is a critical member of the accounting and finance team, responsible for accounting, reporting, and analysis of various corporate activities, as well as supporting the development and application of GAAP accounting policies and maintaining internal controls.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform general accounting functions and other related duties.
- Direct involvement with month-end close procedures including preparing account reconciliations, journal entries and other supporting/tracking schedules.
- Verify and ensure timely payment of vendor invoices and ensure payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
- Prepare the year-end 1099 reporting for accounts payable.
- Monitor invoicing process, record customer payments, and analyze accounts receivable aging schedules for customer collections.
- Communicate with customers to address any past due invoices on their account
- Assist in performing cash management functions such as the monitoring and recording of cash transactions, making deposits, preparation of wire transfers and bank account reconciliations.
- Maintain and analyze general ledger accounts to ensure compliance with GAAP.
- Assist with preparation of supporting schedules and documents needed for external audits.
- Assist in continuously improving the automation of the accounting and reporting process.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- 2+ years general accounting experience; public accounting experience a plus.
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of GAAP standards.
- Strong computer aptitude, which includes proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Adobe Acrobat, as well as experience with accounting software (preferably QuickBooks).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills as well as attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects and deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Self starter with strong ethical standards.
- Team player with a positive communication style.
