    Shift & Schedule:

    • Start Time: 6:00 AM, typically 10-hour shifts
    • Days: Monday–Friday (with flexibility for overtime or on-call as needed)
    • Breaks: 1-hour total break per shift

    Position Summary

    As a Facility Technician , you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth, safe, and efficient operation of our manufacturing processes. You will install, maintain, and repair a wide range of complex and large-scale equipment across the facility. Your responsibilities will include mechanical, electrical, and (as applicable) refrigeration work, as well as basic construction support. Candidates with advanced electrical skills and exposure to HVAC, welding, fabrication, robotics, or ammonia refrigeration will find this role especially rewarding.

    You will collaborate closely with Production, Quality Assurance, Sanitation, and Warehouse teams to maximize equipment uptime while adhering to stringent HACCP and SQF guidelines.

    Key Responsibilities

    1. Equipment Maintenance & Repair
    * Install, maintain, and repair complex industrial machinery used in meat processing, bakery, pizza topping, and sauce production lines.
    * Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues promptly, performing both scheduled and emergency repairs to minimize downtime.
    * Conduct basic welding and fabrication tasks as needed (e.g., simple brackets, guards, or machine modifications).
    
    1. Advanced Electrical Work
    * Safely troubleshoot and repair equipment operating at higher voltages and amperages.
    * Follow strict **Lockout-Tagout (LOTO)** procedures to protect personnel and equipment.
    * Perform wiring, panel work, and power routing in compliance with safety regulations.
    
    1. Preventative Maintenance
    * Develop and follow a routine maintenance schedule using the facility’s CMMS or manual logs.
    * Inspect machinery regularly to identify potential issues before they escalate.
    * Collaborate with production staff to plan maintenance windows that minimize disruptions.
    
    1. Refrigeration & Utilities Support
    * Assist in the maintenance of refrigeration systems (ammonia, glycol, or Freon-based) if certified or experienced.
    * Support HVAC, utilities, and other facility infrastructure tasks under the guidance of specialized technicians or supervisors.
    
    1. Facility Improvements & Construction
    * Provide support for minor construction or renovation projects (e.g., new equipment installations, basic carpentry, lighting upgrades).
    * Oversee contractor work when specialized expertise is required (e.g., major electrical overhauls, structural modifications).
    
    1. Compliance & Safety
    * Adhere to **HACCP** , **SQF** , **GMPs** , **OSHA** , **USDA** , and **FDA** standards.
    * Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment.
    * Report any unsafe or hazardous conditions immediately to management.
    * Wear appropriate **PPE** (e.g., hairnets, safety glasses, steel-toe footwear) and follow facility policies on jewelry and electronic device usage.
    
    1. Documentation & Communication
    * Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, parts used, and issues discovered.
    * Complete required paperwork, forms, and logs promptly.
    * Communicate effectively with teammates, supervisors, and other departments to ensure timely resolution of maintenance concerns.
    

    Qualifications

    1. Education & Experience
    *  **High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent** required.
    *  **2+ years of industrial maintenance experience** (food manufacturing preferred).
    * Technical or trade school certification in industrial maintenance, electrical, or related field is beneficial.
    
    1. Technical Skills
    *  **Advanced electrical knowledge** (wiring, circuit breakers, motor controls, higher-voltage systems).
    * Strong mechanical aptitude (gear/motor alignment, conveyor systems, bearing replacement).
    * Familiarity with **Lockout-Tagout (LOTO)** and related safety protocols.
    * Proficiency in reading technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
    
    1. Additional Skills (Highly Valued)
    * Welding, fabrication, or robotic systems experience.
    * Basic **HVAC** knowledge or **ammonia/refrigeration** certification.
    * Experience with **HACCP** , **SQF** , or other food safety certifications.
    
    1. Physical & Environmental Requirements
    * Ability to lift up to **60 lbs** unassisted and work in environments ranging from **-10°F to 80°F**.
    * Comfortable standing, walking, climbing, bending, and kneeling for extended periods.
    * Prepared to handle physically demanding work near moving mechanical parts.
    
    1. Soft Skills
    * Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
    * Clear oral and written communication in English.
    * Adaptability, self-motivation, and a solution-focused mindset.
    * Willingness to work overtime or varied shifts when necessary.
    

    Work Environment

    • Temperature Variability: Work in freezers, coolers, and hot production areas.
    • Active Production Floor: Frequent forklift traffic, moving machinery, and multiple teams working simultaneously.
    • Sanitation & Safety: Strict hygiene standards; prohibition of jewelry, piercings, and mobile phones in production areas (except permitted items like wedding bands or double-clasp medical bracelets).
    • Regulatory Oversight: Ongoing presence of a USDA officer, plus adherence to all relevant food safety and industrial safety regulations.
