Preschool Food Service Coordinator/Classroom Assistant
Open Space Early Learning Center is currently seeking an experienced Kitchen Coordinator with excellent attention to detail, and a self-starting attitude. Applicants must have experience with upholding food safety protocols, and serving populations with food-related allergies. Experience with online ordering platforms, and client relations are a plus!
Job Duties include but are not limited to:
Meeting and following requirements as of all licensing agencies.
Serving all meals, including breakfast, lunch, snack, being especially mindful of allergies
Is aware of daily attendance when making food and working independently to ensure that all meals are served on time
Responsible for ordering all meals, and meal related items
Maintaining a working professional relationship with food vendors
Maintaining records of food allergies, and ensuring classrooms have knowledge of food allergens
Organizes the foodservice environment and takes responsibility for maintaining it, including general upkeep.
Maintains proper sanitation in the kitchen, common areas, janitorial closet, and storage areas
Keeps food and cleaning supply inventory in proper amounts (including paper towels, gloves, and hand soap)
Remain in compliance with DCFS and The Chicago Department of Public Health sanitation standards while prepping fun and healthy snacks and meals that are catered in.
General classroom assistance
Assist staff with both long and short range activities in accordance with curriculum objectives, developmentally appropriate practice and program philosophy
Provide breaks and lunches for classroom teachers
Other duties as assigned by Leadership team
Qualifications
High school diploma required, college credits preferred
CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain certification
Proof of TB Test, and TDAP, 2 Doses of MMR and immunizations
Physical
Obtain new Food Handlers Training Certificate
1+ years of experience in an early childhood environment
Must meet and follow all additional City and State licensing requirements
