Title: HVAC Technician
Shift: Rotating Shifts (Mornings, evenings, nights, weekends when needed)
Pay: $34.10 - $40.12 with shift differential for afternoon and midnight shifts
HVAC Technician Role:
The HVAC Technician is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of all Chilled Water and associated equipment, AHU’s (Air Houses), and Cooling Units on internal customer owned machinery. Work is performed under direct supervision of the Plant Manager. All interactions with customers are expected to be professional and courteous while providing the services and support needed for success
HVAC Technician Responsibilities:
- Comply with site safety requirements and procedures. Identify safety hazards and take corrective actions as necessary
- Perform all station shift operation and maintenance, including startup and shutdown of main plant components and auxiliaries
- Respond to abnormalities and take corrective actions consistent with established operating procedures and good engineering practice
- Conduct routine tours of the plant to inspect equipment; provide feedback to management and other employees
- Perform plant switching and tagging of equipment in accordance with approved procedures and prudent operations and maintenance practices
- Perform mechanical inspections, troubleshooting, and maintenance tasks under direction of Management or Lead O&M Technician
- Investigate plant issues, incidents, accidents, and unusual events, and provide analyses, recommendations, reports, and appropriate follow-up plans
- Conduct Contractor / Visitor Safety Orientations in accordance with Company Policy
- Facilitate pre-job briefs with staff/contractors to ensure worker safety and policies and procedures are followed
- Develop, assist, and revise operations and maintenance related procedures
- Perform routine preventive and predictive maintenance on all systems and equipment; support corrective maintenance efforts on selected equipment when properly trained, observed by the Lead O&M Technician, or supervised by Management
- Become Subject Matter Expert or system representative on assigned systems
- Communicate with other company personnel on site and at other locations. Represent the company in dealing with the customer, vendors, contractors, regulators, and other non-company personnel under the direction of Management
- Assist other team members and work with all departments to support the operation in achieving its goals
- Willingness to work scheduled and unscheduled overtime and respond to off-hour call-ins when contacted
About you:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and have a good driving record
- 4+ years of experience and maintenance of Centrifugal Chillers, Cooling Towers, Air Houses, Gas fired equipment, and Water Treatment
- 4+ years of power plant experience in both maintenance and operations. This includes knowledge of mechanical and electrical equipment, including pumps, fluid systems, motors, chemical handling, AC and DC electrical distribution and control systems, and water treatment systems
- Knowledgeable with plant safety; including policies and procedures relating to high energy systems, chemical handling, confined spaces, first aid, rotating machinery, heavy equipment and incipient fire suppression.
- Experience with welding, machining, rigging, fabrication, machine alignment, basic vibration analysis, pipefitting, rotating machine repair and using electrical test equipment is preferred
- Familiarity with chemistry and Chiller plant chemical applications; including controls, switches, keyboards, valves and other devices associated with power plants
- Universal Refrigerant License is required
- Experience with Maximo and Leido HIM controls is preferred
- Knowledgeable of Standard Operating Procedures, Jog Hazard Analysis, Risk Assessments, Pre-Job Briefs, and LOTO
- Experience with removing, trimming, reclaiming, and adding refrigerants from refrigeration equipment
- Ability to read and write effectively in English; to do basic mathematics; and basic computer skills such as proficiency with MS Office
