    USPI Paso Del Norte is seeking a motivated Operating Room Charge Nurse to join our team. We have 5 OR rooms and 1 Treatment room. We perform outpatient surgical procedures in Anesthesia, ENT, General, GI, Ortho, OB/GYN, Pain, Plastic, Podiatry. We are looking for a candidate to be available Monday-Friday, schedule subject to change based on surgical schedule and flow of the day. The candidate needs to be available for some early mornings and later evenings.

    Position requires weekdays only -- no holidays, weekends, or call. Some later evenings required.

    Job Summary: As the Operating Room Charge Nurse, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of the OR, ensuring the highest quality patient care, promoting team efficiency, and fostering a positive environment. You will act as a clinical resource for staff, ensuring adherence to evidence-based practices and regulatory standards.

    Responsibilities:

    • Coordinate and oversee patient care in the operating room
    • Act as a mentor and resource for the OR team
    • Assist in the OR as needed
    • Facilitate communication between surgical staff, anesthesiologists, and other departments
    • Support adherence to safety and infection control protocols
    • Assist in developing and implementing policies and procedures to optimize OR efficiency
    • Communicate with physicians to resolve equipment or instrument issues by coordinating ordering or getting repairs done.
    • Communicate with vendors and representatives for supplies, equipment or instruments that are needed for cases.
    • Works closely with Materials and Sterile Processing Dept to coordinate supplies & instrument needs.
    • Preparing and administering annual evaluations
    • Prepare schedules in the afternoon for next day.
    • Coordinates and assists in Performance Improvement Projects.

    Required Skills

    Qualifications:

    • Graduate of accredited school of professional nursing, BSN preferred
    • Current Texas RN License
    • BLS, ACLS required
    • Three (3) years' experience in intra-operative setting.
    • One year of leadership required intra-operative setting.
    • Independent decision-making skills.
    • Demonstrates clinical competency, leadership, and teaching capabilities.
    • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects.
    • Excellent communication skills with staff, physicians, patients, families and vendors.
    • Knowledgeable of hospital policies and procedures specific to the operating room.
    • Clinically proficient in OR nursing skills, demonstrating knowledge of the developmental needs of the pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
    • Shall be physically able to stand, walk, and maintain varied body motions and positions for long periods of time.
    • Shall be able to move up to 100 lbs.

    USPI complies with federal, state, and/or local laws regarding mandatory vaccination of its workforce.
