Immediate Opening for an Operations Director/Assistant GM in Hagerstown, MD

In this role you will Manage and help oversee the development/ implementation of optimal, cost-effective CNC machining processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards. The Operations Director oversees staffing, scheduling, and training for production. Monitors and evaluates workflow and assembly methods along with recommendations for process improvements. Responsible for manufacturing performance and quality goals are met.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
- Participates in the hiring and training of departmental managers.
- Organizes and oversees the work and schedules of departmental managers.
- Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
- Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.
- Establishes quantitative and qualitative metrics, guidelines, and standards by which the company’s efficiency and effectiveness can be evaluated; identifies opportunities for improvement.
- Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates business procedures.
- Implements policies and procedures that will improve day-to-day operations.
- Ensures work environments are adequate and safe.
- Oversees manufacturing, purchasing, and sales departments, ensuring each is reaching goals set by departmental and company leadership.
- Plans, directs, controls, implements, evaluates, monitors, and forecasts budgets and cost of sales in each division to achieve financial objectives.
- Communicates and explains new directives, policies, or procedures to managers; for major changes, meets with entire operations staff to explain changes, answer questions, and maintain morale.
- Improves customer service and satisfaction through policy and procedural changes.
- Leads coordination and integration of efforts among operations, engineering, technology, and customer service divisions to produce smoother workflow and more cost-effective business processes.
- Projects a positive image of the organization to employees, customers, industry, and community.
- Foster strong relationships with all functions to ensure collaborative and efficient execution of operations.
- Responsible for leading and driving activities to achieve improvements in the operations of the plant, that lead to positive performance and financial impacts.
- Supervisor staff and material requirements to meet production schedule; make necessary adjustments when needed.
- Work with management, engineering, manufacturing, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
- Develop and implement cost control/reduction initiatives.
- Optimize manufacturing operations with focus on Lean principles and other process improvement tools.
- Recommend capital equipment improvements to enhance the capacity, efficiency, and productivity of the means of production
JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITES:
- Requires knowledge in CNC Machining, Sheet Metal Fabrication, Welding, metal chemical surface treatments, assembly, tooling design, molding.
- Strong knowledge of the manufacturing processes, procedures and CNC milling/lathe equipment.
- Skilled in achieving results and managing others to achieve corporate, site and departmental objectives
- Strong knowledge and demonstrated experience of Continuous Improvement Practices
- Strong presentation and training skills required.
- Strong listening and conflict resolution skills required.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work.
- Must have the ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues, by using judgment that is consistent with company standards, practices, policies, procedures, including disciplinary issues, regulations and/or labor law.
