    OPERATIONS MANAGER

    JOB SUMMARY

    Manufacturers Reserve Supply is a 4th generation family-owned business that distributes building materials to retail lumber yards, big box stores, and specialty building product retailers. The Operations Manager is responsible for the daily pulling of orders, the inventory, the MRS fleet of tractors and trailers, facilities, and overseeing the Operations Team, which consists of about 25 people including Two Operations Supervisor(s). MRS is a single location B2B wholesaler with a total of 150,000 sq. ft. between four warehouses, all located in Irvington NJ on the same street. The scope of this job extends to key areas such as: staffing and scheduling, customer service, expense management, shortage prevention, warehouse and equipment maintenance, housekeeping, and safety.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

    Hire, train, motivate, and manage warehouse associates, forklift operators, tractor-trailer drivers and Assistant Operations Managers.

    Manage all inventory items and their storage while maintaining inventory accuracy

    Facilitate logistics of delivering orders to our customers and receiving returned merchandise back from customers

    Review the workload to ensure we are staffed properly and determine overtime amounts

    Ensure that our daily orders are pulled and loaded onto our flatbed tractor trailers quickly and accurately. This includes orders sent via UPS.

    Coordinate maintenance of tractors. trailers, forklifts, buildings and grounds

    Purchasing of warehouse supplies and services

    Responsible for proper registrations of all tractors and trailers & remaining compliant with all DOT standards

    Oversee any new projects pertaining to operations (i.e., Cantilever racks, relocation of inventory, new equipment etc.)

    Being proactive about safety and safety training

    Create “best practices” in all aspects of distribution

    Interact with MRS accounting and Inside Sales departments over shipping and billing of orders

    Ensure communications and actions are in alignment with our mission, vision and culture

    Manage time effectively, meet personal goals and work effectively with other team members

    Adhere to all Company policies and procedures

    Present a professional image at all times

    Perform various other duties and special projects as assigned

    · **Pre-employment requirements: personality assessment, drug test, background check and reference check

    SKILL REQUIREMENTS

    · Minimum of 5+ years related experience in Operations

    · Minimum of 5+ years’ experience in a leadership/supervisory capacity overseeing at least ten employees.

    · Prior experience within the building materials industry or warehouses with long length product would be ideal

    · Must have strong leadership and negotiating skills

    · Must be very organized and able to adapt quickly to changing priorities, possess the ability to multi-task, be detail oriented and self-motivated

    · Must have strong time management skills and exceptional problem-solving ability

    · Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills

    · Competency of MS office and Operations systems

    EDUCATION

    · Associate’s Degree in business, supply chain, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience

    · Bachelor’s Degree is a plus

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    · While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to use hand to finger, handle or feel objects, touch and use tools, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, bend, stoop, twist, lift, reach, push, pull, grasp, balance, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, hear and walk during the course of employment

    · Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

    · Must have the manual dexterity to file and use a computer keyboard, calculator and telephone

    · Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision depth perception and an ability to adjust focus
