Operations Manager for a Fiber Import & Distribution Business
Our client is a family-owned business that imports and distributes fiber material. They’re seeking an Operations Manager to optimize the supply chain process and ensure the efficiency of the company’s Fiber team. This role will be responsible for monitoring the performance metrics of warehousing, shipping, and inventory processes; identifying areas for improvement and implementing strategic solutions.
This is an in-person role in Los Angeles, CA.
Responsibilities:
\- Understand and manage the roles and responsibilities of each member of the Fiber team to ensure efficient task execution
\- Manage open purchase orders, coordinate with shipping providers for scheduling, and maximize available shipping space by aligning with carrier allocations
\- Follow up on pending bookings as needed
\- Assess current and future warehouse space needs, communicate with storage facilities to address capacity concerns, and inform sales and management about any delays in customer pick-ups
\- Regularly track inventory levels of essential products, adjusting shipping schedules as needed to maintain an optimal balance
\- Analyze key shipping data, including detention, demurrage, and free time averages. Evaluate trucking and drayage reports to identify opportunities for cost savings and assess vendor performance
\- Continuously evaluate Fiber team workflows to identify bottlenecks and implement solutions that improve overall productivity
\- Develop strategies to reduce reliance on paper records, creating more efficient digital workflows
Qualifications:
\- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field, required
\- 5-8+ years of experience in supply chain, logistics, or a similar role with previous experience in fiber, textile, or adjacent industries
\- In-depth knowledge of logistics and supply chain management, with experience in purchase order coordination, order scheduling, and inventory management
\- Strong skills in inventory tracking and warehouse operations
\- Analytical mindset with excellent problem-solving abilities
\- History of working in smaller companies and wearing many hats, a big plus
\- Ability to juggle multiple projects and deadlines effectively
\- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally with many different departments as well as the leadership team
Compensation: Targeting a base salary of $130-160k
