    Job Purpose

    This position will be located in the Dallas Main office and will provide support for physicians. The position will report directly to the Manager Diagnostic Services and under supervision, will perform ophthalmic photography and diagnostic services. This position may be required to travel to other office locations from time-to-time, but not on a regular basis.

    Texas Retina Associates is Texas’ largest, most experienced ophthalmology practice focused specifically on the diagnosis, medical and surgical management of diseases of the retina and vitreous. Our fellowshipped and specialty trained physicians care for the most complicated retina conditions such as ocular cancer and uveitis. This physician owned medical group provides services at 15 locations throughout the DFW Metroplex, Waco, Wichita Falls and Lubbock.

    ** Essential Duties**

    Greets patients in a cordial, friendly and prompt manner; accompanies patients to photo room

    Verifies patient information and makes necessary documentation to patient charts

    Obtains all appropriate consent forms

    Patient positioning

    Captures patient imagine by using specialized equipment; All phases of fluorescein angiography, fundus photography, and optical coherence tomography

    Identify basic landmarks of the retina as well as determination of right/left fundus

    Correct selection of seven fields based on diagnosis

    Adequate focus and adaptation for different media opacities

    Monitors patients' conditions and reactions during the imaging process

    Manages duplicates, proper image-archiving and storage; escalates any problems or concerns to management

    Contributes to maintaining a clean and sterile environment

    OSHA and Infectious Waste Procedures;

    Performs ad-hoc tasks in support of the clinical department as needed

    Performs imaging and basic Ultrasound

    Performs tasks in support of the Clinical Research Department as needed

    Maintains compliance with all practice procedures and protocols

    Maintain digital imaging databases

    Proper documentation

    Maintain HIPAA compliance for all patient information

    Patient Image file sorting and labeling and archiving

    Maintenance and monitoring of image storage, archive and retrieval

    Notify appropriate staff in a timely manner regarding adequate photography supplies

    Maintain adequate FA/ICG supplies

    Maintain adequate supply of back-up equipment and flash bulbs, internal bulbs and fuses

    Maintain all camera and OCT equipment.

    Archive digital images appropriately

    Cleaning and Care of Ophthalmic Instruments

    ** Qualifications**

    ** Minimum Education and Experience**

    High School Diploma or equivalent required.

    Two (2) or more years of experience as an Ophthalmic Technician in a practice required. Retina practice experience preferred.

    Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or CRA (Certified Retinal Angiographer) or equivalent preferred.

    Experience with NextGen, Digital Imaging and Patient Management preferred.

    ** Physical Requirements**

    Sedentary with prolonged sitting and working at computer.

    Prolonged periods of standing, walking and bending.

    Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. maximum and occasionally lifting and/or carrying such articles as reports, files and small items.
