As we scale, we’re looking for a dynamic professional who understands the transportation industry and can wear multiple hats to support compliance, administration, sales, and recruiting.
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Operations & Business Development Specialist who can lead and support across four critical areas: DOT Compliance, Recruiting, Sales, and Administrative Operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the transportation and logistics industry, specifically working with CDL A drivers and DOT regulatory standards. This individual will help drive our company’s growth by ensuring compliance, recruiting top-tier drivers, identifying new business opportunities, and supporting our entry into government contracting.
Key Responsibilities:
Compliance & Administration:
Serve as the primary compliance lead, ensuring adherence to all DOT and FMCSA regulations.
Maintain driver qualification files, hours-of-service logs, vehicle maintenance records, and other required documentation.
Coordinate internal audits and support external regulatory inspections.
Oversee administrative processes related to driver onboarding, licensing, and renewals.
Assist with maintaining safety programs and company policies.
Recruiting & Talent Acquisition:
Source, screen, and recruit CDL A drivers for Open Deck and End Dump roles.
Develop and execute recruiting strategies to maintain a strong driver pipeline.
Manage job postings, coordinate interviews, and support the full-cycle hiring process.
Build relationships with CDL schools, job boards, and industry networks to attract qualified candidates.
Sales & Business Development:
Identify and reach out to potential shippers to generate direct freight opportunities.
Understand the company’s equipment capabilities and service offerings to tailor outreach efforts.
Represent the company professionally in customer meetings, trade shows, and networking events.
Collaborate with leadership to develop marketing materials and proposals tailored to client needs.
Government Contracting & Proposal Support:
Monitor government procurement platforms for RFPs and relevant bidding opportunities.
Review RFP requirements and coordinate proposal responses with internal stakeholders.
Assist in developing compliant and competitive bid packages for local, state, and federal contracts.
Maintain a database of past proposals and submission documentation.
Qualifications:
3+ years of experience in transportation/logistics, preferably within a small to mid-size trucking firm.
Deep understanding of DOT regulations and CDL A driver qualifications.
Proven track record in recruiting and onboarding CDL A drivers.
Business development or sales experience within the logistics or freight industry.
Familiarity with government contracting and the RFP process is highly desirable.
Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills.
Self-starter with the ability to work independently and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with TMS (Transportation Management Systems)
Knowledge of FMCSA portals, drug testing consortiums, and safety management systems
Proposal writing or bid coordination experience
CRM or sales tracking system experience
