Job description:
The Irlen Institute is seeking an experienced optical lab technician to join our optical lab. This position requires a meticulous individual with an eye for detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality in the production of eyeglasses. The successful candidate will have one year of optical experience working in an optical lab and have working knowledge of optical laboratory equipment, processes, techniques, and laboratory equipment including lensometers, edgers, and tint machines. Ability to work accurately and efficiently
Responsibilities include:
Operate and maintain machine used to cut and edge lenses
Tint lenses according to specific colors and guidelines
Securing and aligning lenses within frames using precision tools
Reading & verifying eyeglass prescriptions using both a manual and digital lensometer
Fabricate and finish lenses based on customer prescriptions
Inspecting finished products for defects
Perform detailed quality control checks to ensure the accuracy of each lens
Assist with inventory management of optical supplies and materials
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized lab environment
Solid understanding of optical machinery, tools, and materials
Exceptional attention to detail and troubleshooting abilities
Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment
Requirements:
High school diploma
1 year of optical experience working in an optical lab
Schedule:
8 hour shift
Day shift
Monday to Friday
