  • Responsibilities

    We are seeking a skilled and experienced Optician to join our team. As an Optician, you will assist customers in selecting and fitting eyeglasses and contact lenses, providing exceptional customer service and ensuring accurate prescription fulfillment. Ideal optician will have private practice background along with organization skills and familiarity with VSP/EyeMed vision plans. Your expertise in optical sales and knowledge of ophthalmic products will contribute to the overall success of our practice. Opticians License/ABO is not required for this opportunity, but is preferable. The most important skills we are looking for is eagerness to learn, strong work ethic and a positive energy!

    Duties:

    • Assist customers in selecting frames and lenses that best suit their needs and preferences

    • Take accurate measurements of customers' eyes and facial features to ensure proper fit of eyewear

    • Interpret prescriptions written by optometrists

    • Educate customers on lens options, coatings, and treatments available

    • Adjust and repair eyewear as needed

    • Maintain accurate and organized medical records using electronic systems

    • Preparing orders for glasses and contact lenses and updating patients on order status

    • Basic front desk duties, including but not limited to: answering phone calls, emails, scheduling appointments and verifying vision insurance eligibility

    • Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team, including doctor to provide comprehensive eye care services

    • Pre-examination workup (pre-testing patients and prepping them for the doctor)

    • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, new products, and advancements in optical technology

    Skills:

    • Strong knowledge of optical products, including frames, lenses, coatings, and treatments

    • Proficiency in using electronic medical records systems (Crystal software systems preferred, but not required)

    • Familiarity with medical terminology related to Optometry

    • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to build rapport with patients

    • Strong sales skills with a focus on meeting or exceeding sales targets

    • Detail-oriented with the ability to accurately measure and fit eyewear

    • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail

    • Previous experience in retail sales is a plus
