    Job Title: Oracle Database Developer (Part-Time) Location: San Diego, CA

    Job Overview: We are seeking a skilled Oracle Database Developer with specialized experience in bioinformatics and advanced proficiency in SQL. This part-time position is based in San Diego and offers an opportunity to work on cutting-edge bioinformatics projects, leveraging data to drive scientific research and innovation. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in database development, with a focus on managing and optimizing large data sets related to biological research.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Design, develop, and maintain Oracle databases to support bioinformatics applications and research initiatives.

    Collaborate with bioinformatics teams to understand data requirements and ensure efficient data management and retrieval.

    Write complex SQL queries to extract, manipulate, and analyze large biological data sets.

    Optimize database performance, ensuring high availability, scalability, and security of the data.

    Develop and implement database scripts, procedures, and triggers to automate and improve data workflows.

    Conduct regular database health checks, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.

    Ensure the integrity and quality of data within the bioinformatics databases.

    Work closely with other developers and researchers to align database solutions with project goals.

    Qualifications:

    Proven experience as an Oracle Database Developer.

    Strong knowledge of bioinformatics data and research methodologies.

    Expertise in Advanced SQL, including complex queries, indexing, and optimization techniques.

    Proficient in database design, development, and performance tuning in an Oracle environment.

    Understanding of biological databases and datasets used in bioinformatics.

    Experience with data integration and migration between various bioinformatics tools and databases.

    Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

    Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a part-time capacity.

    Preferred Skills:

    Experience with cloud-based databases (AWS, Azure) is a plus.

    Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python or Perl for bioinformatics data processing.

    Knowledge of data visualization tools or techniques related to biological data.

    Education:

    Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or a related field (Master’s preferred).

    Hours: Part-time (15-20 hours per week) Location: San Diego, CA (on-site preferred)

    This is a remote position.
