SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Operations Technician, 2nd Operations supports the Second Operations department through visual inspection of machined parts, modifying parts to meet specifications, and forwarding parts to appropriate departments for further processing. Must be able to work hours and overtime (weekends included) required to fulfill operational demands.
The Operations Technician, 2nd Operations reports to the Supervisor, 2nd Operations in the 2nd Operations team.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Visually inspects incoming machined parts from Machining department
- Manually modifies parts to meet customer and quality specifications
- Forwards parts to Quality dept. for additional review/final inspection
- Ensures customer and quality standards are met
- Ensures compliance with medical device regulations
- Using microscope, visually inspects parts against customer and quality specifications (referencing Work Orders. Routers, etc.); determines modifications necessary to meet customer and quality requirements
- Utilizes hands, fingers, and tools to deburr, brush, polish, assemble, and modify parts to ensure customer and quality specifications are met
- Completes assignment within production targets
- Forwards parts to appropriate next department for additional review and/or final inspection
- Suggests and assists with implementing process improvements
- Any other duties, tasks, responsibilities assigned by Supervisor/Leads
- Support quality and compliance by utilizing One Orchid global processes and complying with all Quality Management Systems (QMS) documentation requirements and establishing/supporting plan(s) to meet/exceed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for Quality that support Safety, Compliance, Six Sigma Quality, On-Time Delivery (OTD) and financial objectives.
EXPERIENCE
- 1 year of prior relevant experience, preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Able to perform limited 2nd Operations functions/processes: less than a combination of three (3) functions AND less than eight (8) processes.
- Must be able to work independently with limited supervision
- Detail-oriented, able to perform at high accuracy levels
- Strong hand-eye coordination, required
- Vision must be 20/20 (corrected)
- Basic math skills required
- Able to speak, read, and write in English
- Ability to document transactions, e.g. log in/out of Work Orders and record parts quantities
- Microscope experience, strongly preferred
- Must be able to work extended hours (including overtime) as necessitated by production requirements
- Must be able to work in fast-paced quality environment
- Ability to apply logic and reasoning to solve problems, including identifying strengths/weaknesses, locating alternative solutions and conclusions, and approaches to problems; and making high-quality, timely decisions
EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION
- High School Diploma (GED or High School Equivalent Certificate), required
