POSITION PURPOSE
To efficiently and effectively process Independent Contractors attending orientation. Independent Contractors must be processed through Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and SOAR Transportation policy to ensure a quick and effective hiring process.
JOB FUNCTIONS
Daily Duties
- Review Emails/ Phone messages from the day before.
- Handle all Daily issues during business hours.
- Handle and coordinate all in Class Orientation process (Independent Contractors Packet, Drug Tests, Physicals, Road Test, Sentix video’s).
- Organize all critical paperwork (CDL’s, SS cards, Direct deposit forms, Physicals, EFS Packets, Logbooks, Trip Sheets, Seals, Truck stop book, Fuel Cards, Independent Contractors new pay paperwork).
- Order Lunches for Independent Contractors in Orientation.
- Coordinate all Departments Orientation schedule (Fuel/Permits, Safety, Ops, Maintenance, their new Fleet Leaders).
Weekly Duties
- Take Independent Contractors on tour of facility.
- Get orientation room ready for the following weeks Orientation (Independent Contractor Packets, pens, safety vests, etc.).
- Manage hotel reservation and any issues that arise.
- Review Paperwork once completed and pass it over to Compliance.
- Independent Contractors Retention calls for Independent Contractors hired week before and escalate any unresolved concerns.
- Update New Orientation logs to all departments.
- Take Independent Contractors pictures and upload to LME and send to Advertising agency.
- Keep Orientation board accurate with incoming Independent Contractors.
Monthly Duties
- Orientation Expense report.
- Determine Independent Contractors of the month and quarter from qualifications, announce winner and organize all gifts for Independent Contractors.
- Update all Independent Contractors packets when any changes are made.
Quarterly Duties
- Update Veterans picture wall.
- Update Independent Contractors of the month/ Quarter picture wall.
- Order supplies needed for Orientation.
- 30/60-day retention phone calls.
Additional Responsibilities
- Identify issues with Orientation and work with management to make changes or streamline processes.
- Must maintain current working knowledge of transportation laws, DOT regulations, and company hiring criteria.
- Promote a culture of Trust and Safety for the organization.
- Back up Recruiters phone calls and verifications when needed.
KEY KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
- Any combination of education or experience equivalent to a high school diploma
- Previous experience in the transportation industry preferred
- DOT knowledge of Independent Contractors requirements preferred
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Ability to scan and use of copy machine preferred
- Good organization and communication skills required
