This role is directly accountable for training new commercial drivers on company policies and procedures as well as Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, road testing, and coordinating DOT physicals and drug tests with local medical providers. This includes the development and implementation of courses and hands-on training leading towards continuous improvement of the organization.
Responsibilities
- Conduct training in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company policies and procedures.
- Directly coach and mentor participants on best practices on how to safely operate a CMV.
- Administer driving skills evaluations including road tests, backing tests, and off-highway driving courses.
- Conduct remedial driver skills training when necessary.
- Shuttle students to various locations as needed.
- Daily set-up and maintenance of the driving skills courses. Daily maintenance of CMV and setup.
- Work collaboratively with all internal departments to ensure the skills tests, course objectives, and training content is up-to-date and relevant for the needs of the business.
- Monitor drivers progress throughout orientation and provide remedial training as needed
- Seamless handoff to onboarding and operations once driver are ready to be hired
- Communicate daily with all drivers in orientation to address any issues
- Assists in the design and development of orientation materials
- Coordinate and conduct training for new hires using a variety of instructional techniques and formats including but not limited to classroom training, exercises, and e-learning
- Works with subject matter experts to collect, analyze, and learn operational processes to facilitate the effective delivery of training materials
- Stays abreast of current policies and procedures to ensure up to date training of drivers
- Ensures all orientation supplies are adequately stocked
- Maintain a positive and professional attitude in all circumstances
- Assist onboarding team with gathering necessary paperwork to complete driver hiring process
Qualifications
- Ability to provide innovative Training Solutions
- Strong internal and external customer service skills
- Must have a current Class A CDL with a safe driving record.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products and ChromeBooks.
- Keep a calm demeanor to provide a pleasant learning environment.
- Knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR)
- Demonstrated ability to quickly and efficiently problem solve.
- Ability to effectively work with individuals of all backgrounds.
- Ability to work and communicate well with othersEducation and Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in the transportation industry preferred.
- Experience leading, teaching, coaching and mentoring.
- Experience with rapid and complex changing work environment
- Experience in training student CDL drivers.

Pay Range: $49,657.32-$77,923.79
Pay Grade: 8
