Ortho Service: Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
Job Description
We are Seeking an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician’s Assistant to cover the Ortho department at the University of Maryland Medical System.
Principal Responsibilities and Tasks
The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification. They are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all job duties performed by personnel so classified.
Daily clinical responsibilities include:
* Orders laboratory tests, x-rays and special tests and dressing changes.
First and second assistance during surgery requires: prepping and draping patients, placing foley catheter, giving pre and post operative health care instruction to the patient, and transporting the patient from the O.R. to the PACU.
Demonstrates mastery skill as an advanced practice provider in the field of specialty
Demonstrates excellence in clinical assessment and decision-making including diagnostic reasoning and problem solving.
* * Serves as a mentor to assist other APPs to develop expertise in clinical skills, decision-making, diagnostic reasoning and problem solving.
