    Below is a summary but is not an exhaustive list of responsibilities:

    1. Provides secretarial and clerical support which may include, but is not limited to, composing correspondence, maintaining/ordering office supplies, answering telephone calls, making appointments, maintaining files (which may be confidential in nature), making copies, sending faxes, etc. This position requires frequent interaction with employees/physicians, patients, visitors, vendors, and medical reps.

    3. Schedules, re-schedules patient’s office appointments, follow-up appointments, diagnostic tests, surgeries, and will provide patient with preparation instructions for exams, tests, and/or upcoming surgeries. May prepare patient referrals to specialty care.

    4. May act as a receptionist to including, but not limited to, greeting and directing visitors/patients, answering incoming calls, relaying messages.

    Provides administrative and clerical support in a healthcare setting, including managing correspondence, scheduling appointments and procedures, handling confidential data, assisting patients with payments, and supporting billing processes. Responsibilities also include greeting patients, coordinating travel and referrals, maintaining records, and ensuring accurate charge reconciliation.

    POSSIBLE ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS

    1. Receives incoming calls from both internal and external lines. Documents messages and routes calls appropriately. Transfers calls as necessary. Ensures documentation in medical record is complete including lab and test results. Assists in facilitating requests for patient medical records.

    2. Receives patient in applicable systems, confirms patient demographics and insurance information and performs insurance verification when required.

    3. Provides administrative support for Physicians as needed.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    Requires high school diploma or equivalent and one to two years related secretarial/clerical support experience.

    Excellent communication and human relations skills are necessary. The applicant must have a strong knowledge of office practices and procedures, medical terminology, excellent grammar and spelling. Must have ability to utilize word processing and other software applications. Must be able to work with periodic supervision. Must have the ability to word process with speed and accuracy. Good organizational skills are essential in prioritizing and coordinating various responsibilities simultaneously.
