About the Role
In this unique teaching position, you’ll guide mixed-age classes of 6th - 8th grade students through a variety of engaging learning experiences, including:
Outdoor Education: Co-lead challenging, fun, and engaging outdoor afternoons for students on Friday at New School’s beautiful Mitchell Point campus and other Gorge locations. On these days, you’ll teach students to problem-solve, create, and collaborate through hands-on lessons, activities, and games.
Academic Support: Guide and support students during their academic study sessions on Friday mornings and collaborate closely with other teachers to ensure a cohesive learning experience.
Health Education: Plan and deliver engaging classroom lessons, using a pre-built curriculum as a foundation and adapting it to meet the unique needs and interests of your students.

This part-time position is up to 15 hours per week, with paid preparation time. The role begins in March 2025.
Ideal Candidate Profile
We’re looking for someone who:
Holds a Bachelor’s Degree and has experience teaching or working with students in similar educational settings. Preference will be given to candidates with teaching certifications/licenses.
Is passionate about experiential and interdisciplinary learning, particularly in outdoor and hands-on contexts.
Builds positive, professional relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
Is adaptable, organized, and ready to take initiative.
Demonstrates enthusiasm for supporting middle school students’ academic and social-emotional development.
Is confident leading a group of 16 students in an outdoor setting.
