SUMMARY
The LoveOne Outreach Program Specialist is an outreach specialist who engages with individuals, meets them in the field where they are, and loops them into the readily available resources. This is done at each individuals own pace, while utilizing a harm reduction, person-centered approach. The Outreach Program Specialist conducts outreach at camps, laundry and shower events in the community, and by phone.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
● Collaborate with community partners
− Complete release of information for continuum of care with community partners. − Collaborate with community agencies to assist with continuum of care and reduce barriers for services.
− Coordinate services and build relationships with local law enforcement.
− Advocate for participants at all systemic levels.
− Cultivate and maintain positive working community relationships.
− Work to increase level of cultural sensitivity, awareness, and competency regarding Person Centered and Peer Delivered Services, harm reduction, and housing first models.
− Conduct outreach and engagement in the community.
− Attend LoveOne laundry, shower events, and trash events.
● Engage with potential and current participants
− Share your own story as appropriate and walk alongside the clients to assist with their personalized plan. − Work with participants on individualized goals.
− Support participants in establishing pro social activities and community integration. − Provide supportive services to current or former participants of mental health or addiction services. − Cultivate and maintain positive working relationships with participants and staff. − Coordinate and consult with other team members.
● Record keeping and compliance
− Meet regularly with the manager for updates and information sharing.
− The Outreach Program Specialist will create a schedule that aligns with the operations of LoveOne, by coordinating with the manager to fit the needs of the neighbors being served. − Ensure all records are entered in a timely manner, are accurate, and all participant interactions are documented appropriately.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Successful candidate will be a service-oriented individual with high personal standards and a hands-on work style. This position requires an individual who is comfortable working at a varying pace, managing multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously, simultaneously priorities often, and managing frequent interruptions.
This position interacts with internal staff and has high levels of contact with community partners and participants. The Outreach Program Specialist must be positive, approachable, empathetic and work effectively with diverse personalities. In addition, the following is required unless otherwise noted:
● Successful work history includes 2 years of experience in an office and field setting directly related to job responsibilities specified above, with progressively greater responsibility for making administrative/procedural decisions and judgments.
● Lived experience preferred.
● Peer Support Specialist (PSS) or Certified Recovery Mentor (CRM) certification preferred or the ability to obtain within 6 months.
● Proficiency with personal computers and Microsoft Office applications (i.e., Word, Excel, Email), database management, smart phones, and the ability to operate standard office equipment. ● Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
● Demonstrated ability to resolve problems and present results neatly, with clarity and precision in oral and written form.
● Demonstrated ability to develop, plan, and implement short and long-range goals. ● Demonstrated ability to maintain professional boundaries.
● Maintain applicable valid licenses and certifications and meet continuing education requirements. ● Maintain a valid Driver’s License & have reliable transportation for field work.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS
● Ability to use a computer keyboard and sit in a stationary position for extended periods. Work is primarily performed at field locations where we serve participants and office work is performed at one or more of our organization’s locations.
● This is a physically active position requiring the ability to stoop and bend regularly and may need to lift up to 45 lbs. at laundry or trash events. In addition, this position requires the ability to hike extended distances in rugged terrain while carrying a 25lbs. pack.
● 50% - 60% travel required.
● Extended work hours required on occasion due to attendance and participation in industry functions that begin well before the workday and may extend well into the evening, or when dealing with emergency situations with participants.
