    Job Description

    AHRC NYC is looking to hire an Outreach and Retention Specialist for their Queens Train and Earn Career Pathways Program with the NY City Department of Youth and Community Development.

    ** Scope of Position:**

    Train & Earn is a career pathways program funded by the New York City Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) that provides comprehensive job training and employment services, along with support services needed by participants to find a permanent job, obtain their high school equivalency if applicable, and access postsecondary education and training. Train & Earn is for youth and young adults aged 16–24, who are not working and not in school, and meet certain eligibility requirements. The Outreach & Retention Specialist will support the Train & Earn program with participant recruitment and program retention.

    ** Essential Responsibilities:**

    The Outreach & Retention Specialist will be responsible for the following duties:

    ** Establish relationships with community partners**

    • Conducting information session presentations and/or discussions with community partners
    • Traveling citywide to attend and participate in community events and public meetings
    • Establishing and maintaining new relationships between the community and AHRC NYC, including business connections, internship sites, and additional support services
    • Engaging community in partnership to support participant achievement and align resources.

    ** Establish Relationship with Participants**

    • Supporting DYCD case managers in maintaining relationships with program participants to encourage retention
    • Providing trauma-informed case management services to ensure participants receive necessary support, maintaining detailed case notes and producing required reporting
    • Regularly participating in team meetings to discuss updates and strategies for improving service delivery
    • Serving as a liaison between staff, participants, families, community members, and service providers

    ** Onboarding**

    • Acting as the primary contact for individuals exploring the DYCD program
    • Facilitating information sessions about the program - both in-person and virtual
    • Facilitating onboarding for all DYCD participants and ensuring all required paperwork is completed in a timely manner

    ** Documentation and Reporting**

    • Ensuring timely documentation of all outreach and direct service activities
    • Tracking and reporting on outreach efforts and direct services provided, utilizing feedback to enhance future strategies
    • Attending standing check-in meetings to review progress, challenges, and new initiatives
    • Meeting or exceeding all expected program recruitment targets

    ** General**

    • Working with the Program Director to identify and conceptualize outreach campaign strategies that meet and exceed goals
    • Assisting with developing content for electronic and print communications to support and market the program
    • Engaging in ongoing professional development to stay informed on best practices for effective outreach methodologies
    • Undertaking additional tasks as requested by supervisors that align with the job role
    • Attending and participating in program-wide events as required
    • Performing other duties in accordance with the scope of the role

    Once fully oriented into the new role, expectations are that this person will be able to develop quality relationships leading to a strong qualified applicant pool. It is expected that this person will work collaboratively with the EBS managers to ensure that all program enrollments are filled. Perform other duties as assigned.

    ** Required Qualifications**

    • The specialist should have the skills and personality to forge relationships with OSOW youth and encourage their participation and continuation in the program by ensuring participants have access to supportive services, especially during the follow up period, in coordination with case management staff. The specialist should be a “credible messenger” with strong community connections
    • Bachelor’s Degree
    • A least two (2) years of successful and relevant experience
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Experience with people with disabilities/youth
    • Ability to work collaboratively with other Managers and Employment & Community Service Coordinators to develop and maintain sites, disseminate information, and provide top quality customer service to all EBS customers.
