Join our team as a Garage Door Apprentice, where you'll have the opportunity to learn the ins and outs of garage installation, service, and maintenance. As a Garage Door Apprentice, you'll work closely with experienced professionals, applying your mechanical or electrical background while learning the trade and developing the skills needed to install or maintain a variety of garage doors. The industry is expanding, and this position offers tremendous potential for long-term career growth. You'll also have the opportunity to branch out into gate automation and security solutions, giving you a diverse skill set that will set you up for success in this rapidly evolving field. Responsibilities: • Learn to service, sell, and install garage doors in residential and commercial clients, including self-storage facilities. • Learn to service, sell, and install garage door operators in residential and commercial clients. • Learn to use our software for taking notes, generating estimates, and producing invoices. • Learn to ensure that measurements and locations for openings are correct for jobs • Learn record keeping including but not limited to client billing, time records, credit card purchases, training, and vehicle and equipment services. • Learn to maintain a neat and clean appearance of self, work site, service vehicle and warehouse, including stocking of inventory on service vehicle. • Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing other tasks as needed. Qualifications: • Oral and written communication skills that build rapport with team members, clients, vendors, and sub-contractors • Highly organized with strong time management and respect for deadlines, with attention to detail and accuracy of work • Ability to read tape measures and convert measurements • Basic math skills with experience in collecting client payments • Ability to identify errors and solve problems through critical thinking • Must be able to climb a ladder and work at heights of up to 12' high • Must be able to operate hand tools, manual and powered • Must be able to lift, including overhead, and carry up to 80 pounds for up to 50 feet on uneven ground • Must be able to complete activities using fine motor skills of the hands and wrists • Must be able to work outside in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat, extreme cold, rain, snow, ice, and high winds • Must be able to reach, bend, squat, kneel, grasp, move, feel, touch, see (including color, depth perception, or clarity), and hear (including receiving detailed information orally or making fine discriminations in sounds) • Must be able to pass a background check and federal drug/alcohol test Compensation: $16 - $19 hourly
