We are seeking a Protection and Control Engineer to join a growing Power Delivery team. This individual will support the design of various projects across generation, transmission, distribution, substations, switchyards, power plants, and more.
Responsibilities:
- Provide relay protection and control engineering for medium to high voltage projects (2.4kV through 345kV).
- Perform the necessary analysis and calculations to develop protection and control design packages.
- Create design criteria and material specifications, integrating client-supplied standards and requirements.
- Develop one-line, three-line, schematic diagrams, and wiring and connection diagrams.
- Use relay protection principles to develop protection philosophies and establish zones of protection using electro-mechanical, solid-state, and microprocessor relays.
- Develop relay setting files using vendor-specific software packages for microprocessor-based relays.
- Contribute to conceptual/feasibility studies, cost estimates, design drawings, material specifications, bills of materials, bid documents, relay settings, and coordination studies.
- Participate in client meetings to ensure designs align with their needs and objectives.
Requirements:
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering
- 3-7 years of experience in relay protection and control design.
- Proficient in developing protection schemes and design packages
- Experience with protection settings and schemes for equipment in the electric utility industry, including substations, distribution, generation, and transmission systems.
- Familiarity with industry codes and standards such as IEEE, IEC, NESC, RUS, and other relevant guidelines.
- Proficient in AutoCAD, MathCAD, ETAP, Aspen One-Liner, and similar tools.
- Experience with relay programming software from vendors such as SEL, ABB, and GE.
