  • Responsibilities

    The Employer is looking for Barn Maintenance Assistant (Equestrian) for a location near Lodi, CA

    The Property is a residential equestrian estate with irrigated pastures and ranch facilities, centrally located in California’s Central Valley, 4 miles west of Lodi.

    Key Duties

    • Perform general maintenance and repair of barn, stalls, pen, gates, fences, pasture, and surrounding grounds under supervision.
    • Responsible for the physical appearance of barn and surrounding area (gather and remove debris).
    • Maintain and organize grain, hay, and supplement storage areas.
    • Implement feeding schedules including supplement administration.
    • Manage the turn in and out of horses to pasture.
    • Fill/clean water buckets and/or troughs.
    • Put on/take off blankets/sheets/fly masks when necessary.
    • Coordinate and facilitate cleaning/bedding stalls.
    • Water and drag the Arena.
    • Groom, clean, and tack horses.
    • Assist with horses’ exercise routines.
    • Assist with planning horseback riding lessons, if needed.
    • Assist with animal care, livestock (horses/cows/chickens), barn equipment and vehicle maintenance.
    • Communicate observations of horse’s behaviors and health to Supervisor.
    • Providing aid with veterinary care, scheduling routine veterinary and farrier care to keep horses in good health.
    • Completing paperwork and ensuring horses have up-to-date vaccinations for horse shows, other competitions, or travel as needed.
    • Arrange transportation to horse shows, if needed.
    • Weekends necessary.
    • Seasonal holiday and event support.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    **Experience Education/License Requirements:
    **

    • Must have 1-year + related familiarity with horses and horse care or training in related work.
    • Must have reliable transportation to job site.
    • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
    • Ability to pass background investigation and drug screen tests.

    Skills and Abilities:

    • Ability to work with farm animals with confidence and calmness.
    • Ability to use hand tools such as shovels, rakes, pruning saws, saws, hedge or brush trimmers, axes,
    • and power equipment such as blowers and mowers.
    • Ability to perform duties satisfactory to company standards.
    • Clean and neat appearance.
    • Exhibits professionalism with property residents, guests, and staff.

    Work Environment:

    Work is performed outside and you are exposed to varied weather including warm, cold and wind. Work is

    performed during standard business hours, may be required during non-business hours and weekends will be

    required to meet business needs.

    Job Type: Part-time Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour - Position will transition to Full Time and pay is dependent upon experience.
